The $64 question with the Iraqi military is when will they split their "combat arms" school into armor, artillery, infantry, ADA, and cavalry branches? They already have separate schools for engineer, signal, medical, intelligence, etc.
With eventually 13 divisions under Corps (should be two Corps, just my opinion) command, even if they are anti-tank heavy so are deemphasizing armor, they still need artillery to be a player. And they need lots of specialized and well-trained personnel to do it. All I see coming in are light armored vehicles and some rebuilt T-72s.
Secondly, when are they going to get a combat air force? The Iranians systematically assassinated all the old Baathist pilots, so unless we are training a bunch of them in Texas, and giving them their planes and airfields as graduation gifts, their defenses will have a major gap.
Granted, we can give them an s-load of Stingers to keep away any other air force, but there are some good air forces in that region that Iraq needs to match or best on general principles.
