Jesse Jackson Wants Seinfeld Boycott for 'Kramer' Tirade

Jesse Jackson Wants a Seinfeld Boycott for Kramer Tirade --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By Jim Roberts Nov 28, 2006

That didn't take long. Jesse Jackson is now heavily involved in the racist rant put forth by Michael Richards aka 'Kramer' from the popular '90's hit television sitcom Seinfeld. Richards went on Jesse Jackson's nationally syndicated radio program, "Keep Hope Alive," as a part of a series of apologies for the incident over the weekend.

Jesse Jackson Wants a Seinfeld Boycott for Kramer Tirade

Jackson, has called Richards' words "hateful," "sick," and "deep-seated, and for once in his life jess Jackson is right.

***

Of course that didn't last long as Jackson then called for a boycott of the Seinfeld DVD set that went on sale last week to protest Richards' racial tirade at a comedy club in Los Angeles last week.

Yes - that will really solve something.

***

Richards, who played Jerry Seinfeld's wacky neighbor Kramer on the TV sitcom "Seinfeld," was performing at West Hollywood's Laugh Factory last week when he lashed out at hecklers with a string of racial obscenities and profane language. A cell phone video camera captured the outburst, and the incident later appeared on TMZ.com.

Richards told Jackson the tirade was fueled by anger, not bigotry. He said he wanted to hurt those who had hurt him.

"I was in a place of humiliation," he said.

***

Hard to say what should happen to Richards. He has really no career and has been unable to sustain the Seinfeld momentum. But moving to Jesse Jackson for healing was a huge error as Jackson will want to make it about the person he cares most about.

Jesse Jackson.

I miss Sam Kinison. I'd love to hear how Rodney handled hecklers. It's not on any of the tapes I ever had.

Yes, but how big of an economic force are the four black people who watched 'Seinfeld'?

"Yep. That's why nobody watched it."

Yea, I know, I'm in the minority.

I'm sure this is going to work. I see tons of Seinfeld DVD's sitting next to the Tupac documentaries at black people's homes.

Wrong target audience Jesse, I don't think blacks are the primary buyers of a series about neurotic New York JOOOOOS, or hymies, whatever you prefer.

Rush said Monday that Shakedown's show is carried by Channel/Premier Radio, Rush's own syndicator.

Don't get me wrong, I can relate somewhat. I avoided Seinfeld for nine solid years, getting irritated as hell listing to folks talk about him (I always had him confused with some other stand up comedian who always talked with this doomsday-woe-is-me tone of voice, who I never liked). And I got sick of folks telling me I looked like Seinfeld or like Kramer (I guess depending on how my hair looked that day).

The VERY first episode I ever watched was the finale, just to see what all the hype was about. And I still didn't get it.

Finally someone played a rerun of the handicapped spot episode, and I got it and was hooked.

But, you know, to each his own.

Funny. I didn't watch the show until it was almost over.

Most all the shows I have watched are reruns.

I remember now (after a google search). I confused Seifeld with Richard Belzer, who had a show about a stand-up comedian in the 80's. I couldn't take more than 5 minutes of him, and I think I got Seinfeld confused with him.

Interestingly, I like Belzer now that he is on Law and Order, even though that show has worn off on me.

I think I've seen two episodes of Seineld -- total. But now I think I will watch every re-run there is!

Unfortunately, "An Inconvenient Truth" is the #7 best seller on that same list. (:

"getting irritated as hell listing to folks talk about him"

I know what you mean. It seems as though I missed watching all the really popular shows that go on for ten years or so. I start watching a new show I like and it won't make it through the season. I guess my taste in TV wouldn't go far.

I really don't think he can explain himself. What are these people thinking when they mouth off like that (Richards and Gibson)? Out of the heart the mouth speaks.

Jesse Jackson is a lazy, unproductive, immoral, lying, trash-talking person. I wish there was a one-word description for that sort of person, but I can't imagine what it would be.

There IS such a word - but Michael Richards got in trouble for using it!

"Bakersfield PD" was like that. It was yanked after 8 episodes but was actually pretty clever.

I thought I was the only oddball that didn't like Seinfeld.

I never watched it. Maybe it was good, or maybe it was bad - but when anything becomes TOO popular, I stay away from it on general principles.

It's not that I don't watch TV - I do, but I have never seen Survivor, Who Wants To Be a Millionaire, American Idol or any of the "reality" shows for the above reason.
