The UN High Commissioner on Human Rights Louise Arbour has decided not to meet with the families of the kidnapped soldiers during her visit to Israel . The families of Ehud Goldwasser, Eldad Regev and Gilad Shalit have approached the commissioner two weeks ago already, but after a series of evasive answers, the negative and final answer came Tuesday.

"The decision of the Commissioner Arbour not to meet with the families of the kidnapped soldiers during her visit to Israel should set off red lights in Israel and the other 15 countries that are signed on UN Resolution 1701. The UN is not interested in the fate of the soldiers, and maybe it doesn't even stand behind the resolution," said Benny Regev, brother of kidnapped soldier Eldad Regev.

Regev told Ynet that the commissioner should meet with the families mainly because the way the soldiers are treated by Hamas and Hizbullah is a violation of human rights. "There is no way of knowing what their situation is and if their basic right to live has been kept. Nobody is updating us on their status, and this is one of the basic demands of the UN when talking about prisoners of war," he said

Regev added that "the evasion of Arbour is childish. We wished to take only a few minutes of her time, and the fact we have been chasing after her for more than two weeks indicates that the consideration was not a reasonable one."

Regev added that he hopes Arbour will reconsider and meet with the families in order to examine the ways the UN can assist in the return of the three kidnapped soldiers. Regev also said that the families have no new details on their condition or information regarding the negotiations on their release.

During her visit, Arbour will meet Foreign Minister Tzipi Livny and discuss the issue of the kidnapped soldiers.

Clearly the UNHCR only believes that Palestinians have human rights, not Israelis. It seems the UN doesn't consider Israelis human.

Why do the US and Israel remain in the UN or support it in any way? I don't get it.

Another reason the UN is garbage. The only people that have Human Rights violated are Palestinians. This is disgusting. Well, what else do we expect for all of us weiners that are willing to except Dhimmitude without speaking out?

I'm not kidding. Why in the hell would they take that stance, if that were NOT the attitude? The UN is infested with an evil.

With the 'authoritas' of South Park's Cartman,
Louise Arbour, "UN Commissioner to Continue Terrorism, Extortion,
Revenge and Slavery", schemes her and the UN's antiSemitic terror plans
consistent with UN's 'Final Plan' : the extermination of Jews and Israel.

The UN is not interested in the fate of the soldiers, and never even tried hard to pretend to maybe it doesn't even stand behind the resolution," said Benny Regev, brother of kidnapped soldier Eldad Regev.

More accurate. The UN is evil. PERIOD.

Meanwhile, another victim of a Palestinian Qassam rocket attack on Sderot has just died. I posted a new article from YNet which also links to video from Channel 2.

Clearly the violation of Palestinians' "cultural rights" (to use Ms. Arbour's words) is more serious that the killing of Israelis to her and to the UN. Evil is the right word.

Fed Cripes sake, she is "of" the Useless Nudniks.
Who cares what she says or what she does? They (the UN)are to be ignored and passed by.
Everyone knows their (UN's) bias's and their predilections for condemnation of Israel, Israelis and Jews at large.

Ms.Arbour does not want to give the impression of evenhandedness, OK. Eff'er! And the cannibal & communist staff she travels with AND the United States funded aircraft she rode in on.

Here's wishing her a solid case of full blown AIDS and a personal investigation by Claudia Rossett.

During her visit, Arbour will meet Foreign Minister Tzipi Livny

Everything that is wrong with Israel will be seen in the almost certain picture of a smiling Livny posing with this UN bitch at their meeting.

I am taking your question very seriously. I don't know but can only speculate.

In view of Diogenesis's post #8 and the 'Final Plan' of the UN... I speculate that we stay in order to prevent the UN from carrying out their Final Plan.

Even Wikipedia calls her a Jew hater.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louise_Arbour

Born in Montreal, Quebec to Bernard Arbour (deceased) and Rose Ravary, the owners of a hotel chain, she attended convent school, during which time her parents divorced. As editor of the school magazine, she earned a reputation for irreverence. She has a known hatred for the Jewish State.

A true frog.

well put, and so is this:
Regev added that "the evasion of Arbour is childish. We wished to take only a few minutes of her time, and the fact we have been chasing after her for more than two weeks indicates that the consideration was not a reasonable one."
