The Top 10 Safest And Most Dangerous Cities In The US
The Stiletto ^ | November 15, 2006 | The Stiletto

Posted on 11/18/2006 5:15:23 AM PST by theothercheek

Morgan Quitno Press recently published its 13th annual ranking of the safest and the most dangerous cities in the US with populations of at least 75,000, based on the rate of murders, rapes, robberies, aggravated assaults, burglaries and motor vehicle thefts reported to the FBI. The 2006 ranking of the 371 cities meeting the criteria was based on final 2005 FBI statistics (released Sept. 18, 2006).

Human Events reports that in 2005 the mayors of the Top 10 Safest Cities in America were evenly divided between Republicans (Greece, NY; Cary, NC; Colonie, NY; Mission Viejo, CA) and Democrats (Irvine, CA; Troy, MI; Newton, MA; Amherst, NY; Brick Township, NJ). The mayor of Coral Springs, FL, is an Independent.

In contrast, nine of the Top 10 Most Dangerous Cities in America were run by Democrats in 2005 (Gary, IN; Youngstown, OH; Oakland, CA; Cleveland, OH; Birmingham, AL; Camden, NJ; Compton, CA; Detroit, MI; St. Louis, MO). Flint, MI had a Republican mayor in 2005.

The Stiletto recalls that it was a Republican mayor – one Rudy Giuliani – who brought order, peace and prosperity to New York City, long written off as "ungovernable."

NOTE: This is the second item in a feature called "The Daily Blade," and it follows an article titled, "The Time Is Still Not Right For Hillarycare."

Move to a small town and the risk of being murdered/raped is cut to zero.

Anyone know of any links to show the gun control policies of these cities???

No New Orleans? Sounds like New Orleans has been getting a bad rap, though you do need to watch your step there.

They're all anti-gun. I wouldn't live in those places if you paid me to. Its not worth the risk to one's life and limb.

Gary, IN? Huh. I'd always thought it fell into the Midwest style, everyone-knows-their-neighbor category.

Minneapolis has to be #1, however that is focused on theft only. (via government)

I lived there for a few months a long time ago and actually I knew my neighbors well.

Hence, I NEVER unlocked or opened the door after dark.

I'll say it. High correlation to a high percentage of blacks in the population.

And it pains me to say it. But it's true, and it's a cultural issue that's it's un-PC to point out, that we can't address unless we're willing to discuss it forthrightly.

Which we aren't.

"Flint, MI had a Republican mayor in 2005."

Huh ? No, it didn't. Donald Williamson has been the Mayor of Flint since 2003, and he is most assuredly a 'Rat. Flint hasn't had a Republican Mayor since Paul Visser in 1973.

Well, not Zero. Someone was murdered in my small town in 1958.

Once again, St. Louis gets misclassified because of the city/county split. If you're not from here, you won't understand it.

Most of us here just laugh at the very suggestion that we're living in a hell hole...

You're right. Decades ago that was a horror. If the rest of America could be like our small towns, we'd all be better off.

Which correlates directly to race-based welfare, which always produces a very negative impact to a community.

Simple economics, want to produce more of something- subsidize it. Produces lots of fatherless children for more welfare checks, and keeps mothers hooked on the dole. Bigotry at its absolute worst, in my opinion.

Agreed. Our inner cities were safe before the 60s. Today they are hellholes in which one wrong look at someone is enough to get you killed. Liberalism's compassionate policies have spawned this Lord Of The Flies netherworld that we read about in our newspapers and see on our evening newscasts.

I grew up in the dreaded City of St. Louis and still go back there to visit family.

There are places in the both the city and county (many more in the city naturally) that are dangerous. Avoid them and there's absolutely no problem.
