Best Buy bans MERRY CHRISTMAS in their stores
Click here for info on Best Buy banning MERRY CHRISTMAS ^

Best Buy has announced they will be using "Happy Holidays" this coming Christmas shopping season, and they will not be using "Merry Christmas."

Dawn Bryant, a spokeswoman at Best Buy Co. Inc., says their advertising will not be using the term "Merry Christmas." "We are going to continue to use the term holiday because there are several holidays throughout that time period, and we certainly need to be respectful of all of them," Bryant said. While many other retailers have decided to return to the traditional "Merry Christmas", Best Buy will not be among them. Best Buy considers the use of "Merry Christmas" to be disrespectful.

PS - Don't tell them that "Holiday" is short for "Holy Day"

Good for them. Gives me just one more reason to never darken their door again.

Had major league hassles about returning a defective item several years ago. I hate the place with a passion and will never shop there.

Best Buy's advertisements indicate they still believe in Santa Claus - as a marketing tool.

Since I am not buying any holiday gifts, I will have to find someplace that sells Christmas gifts.

I worked for Best Buy for 2 & 1/2 years, and trust me, if you knew how they thought of their customers, you wouldn't even be wasting your time trying to reach them. They aren't interested. Not that I think it is an unworthy cause, just that trying to get BB to care about anything but a bottom line is a fruitless endeavor.

Best Buy? Who were they?

Circuit City's coming back, and so is Wal-Mart.

Happy Holidays = Happy Holy Day as was pointed out in churches in our community last year.

When my church starts not using Merry Christmas then I will get upset. I am through getting upset at business' who use Happy Holidays. Check your Christmas cards and see how often Happy Holidays is used.

Hate to break it to everyone that not everyone in this Country is Christian and frankly I am tired of having religion shoved down my throat and I don't care who it is.

BTW, I am Lutheran and occasionally go to the Catholic Church so I am not an athiest before anyone jumps on me. There are so many more important issues that need attention then what some store uses in their advertisements. If you don't like it, don't shop there.

Christmas has become too commercial as it is and frankly if someone doesn't mean Merry Christmas when they say it then I prefer they don't use it.

Had a major proble returning a defective TV there myself last week. The manager was convinced we were trying to pull some kind of scam even though we had the box and a reciept. he brought my girlfriend to tears. I will never shop there again. I took my returned cash and went next door to Circuit City instead.

Well, if Best Buy is not going to say Merry Christmas when it is the Christian holiday that brings in the most money to their store, then this former Best Buy client feels he Best Buy his merchandise some place else. By placating to the minority, they offend the majority. It is the Christmas holiday that is the national holiday. It would be wise not to forget that.

Circuit City has a unique opportunity here, hopefully they will resist the PC plague and seize it.

Thanks, Best Buy, for this heads up. I will buy absolutely nothing from you this Christmas or ever -- as long as you can not bring yourselves to say "Merry Christmas."

Obviously they don't even care about the bottom line, if they insist on insulting Christians on their major holiday.
