Sen. Trent Lott is being coy about whether he'll run for minority whip in the GOP leadership elections slated for Wednesday. But while Lott plays his cards close to his vest, his presumptive rival, Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., has already declared himself the winner.

The house will elect great leadership. Its the Senate that got us into this problem and will continue to be a cancer to concervatives.
We must look for two qualities in a leader. Uncompromising conservatism and a tough personality to stand up to the terroristic tactics of the Dems. McConnel is lacking the tough personality and Alexander is lacking both. I believe that he voted for amnesty. John Kyle and Tom Coburn would be better.

The Republicans have shown no ability to act as or use either the majority or minority Whip positions. I have never seen renegade senators (i.e.; McCain, Chaffee, or Spectre) stripped of committee positions or chairmanships, reassigned to least favorable office space and accommodations, or had their operating budgets curtailed. Whoever it is won't make a bit of difference until the leadership grows a pair.

I agree about Alexander. I think of him as "The Invisible Senator."
I've sent him emails with some of my concerns, including illegal immigration, and have never received a reply.

He would never stand up to the rats. A decent guy, but not what we need.

Lott, who was dumped as leader in 2002, has been widely viewed by Capitol Hill insiders as looking to make a comeback.

Is this the Night of the Living Dead? I thought Lott was safely buried. Please, somebody, put him back in his casket.

It is the year of the living dead. You see they don't give a rat's ... what we think.

It's THEIR SENATE and THEIR SENORITY. It's not about who will be the best selection, but who's next in line.

Therein lies the problem.

The South has been vital in saving the Union from the democrats.

Folks here do not understand that it is nearly impossible to elect conservatives statewide in battle ground states.

Congressional districts are a whole different matter. We can and shall elect conservatives in GOP gerrymandered districts.

"didn't lamar alexander like to wear a plaid flannel shirt all the time? I think that was his trade mark."

Yeah, that was his trade mark, and it started when he had that crazy notion that people might vote him in as president. He was stomping around my state of NH with that plaid shirt all the time. I can't remember the last time I wore a plaid shirt and I live here!

The Senate Repubs will doom us for generations to come.

Lott sued his insurance company last year and lost big. He was trying to collect from flood damage when he didn't have flood insurance!

He was trying to pretend that hurricane insurance is really flood insurance.
