US Lawyers to Seek Criminal Charges Against Rumsfeld in Germany

A U.S.-based advocacy group says it plans to seek criminal charges in a German court against outgoing U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, for his alleged role in sanctioning torture of prisoners in U.S. custody.

In a statement Saturday, the Center for Constitutional Rights says it will file its criminal complaint against Rumsfeld in a German court Tuesday.

Attorneys for the group say the case will ultimately look at the responsibility of high-ranking U.S. officials authorizing war crimes in the war on terror. They say the complaint is related to a 2004 case that was dismissed.

The lawyers say the new case contains what it calls "substantial new evidence" and new circumstances following the resignation of Rumsfeld.

The U.S. Department of Defense has not commented.

Germany's universal jurisdiction law allows the country's courts to hear cases originating from anywhere in the world.

The group says it is representing one detainee held at the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and 11 Iraqis who were held at Abu Ghraib prison in Baghdad.

The complaint also seeks criminal prosecution of U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and former CIA Director George Tenet.

Rumsfeld resigned as Secretary of Defense on Wednesday, but he is expected to remain in the position until his proposed successor, Robert Gates, is approved by the U.S. Senate.

NOTE: The Federal Prosecutors will dismiss this "lawsuit" (report about an alleged crime) just like they did 2004, because "the US provide a sufficient justice system for such crimes/allegations."

So, the Germans think like you: it´s none of their business. These laws exist however for people from countries where no sufficient justice systems exist.

A perminant SCOTUS ruling on this along with punative sanctions against any country/group that tries it would be better.

Further proof that the Democrats see they're victory not as a chance to govern, but an opportunity to damage their political opponents. For these Democrats, party is far more important than country, family or any other concern.

If they're American, this is clearly treason and sedition and they should be all tried, in absentia if necessary.

This better happen soon, or a civil war is certain.

I never thought I would see Americans attacking their own government, and other Americans indirectly, through the abuse of the unique rights and freedoms that they enjoy in the United States.

I am not sure that Donald Rumsfeld would agree to taking the job (after all, he has earned an honorable retirement), but since John Bolton's recess appointment to the UN is about to expire, wouldn't it be a stick in the eye if Rumsfeld was given a recess appointment to serve as UN ambassador in his place?

Sends one heckuva message to the Islamic fascists. Rumsfeld ain't done with ya yet, ya sand Nazis. And it would be sticking it right in the ear of that Kangaroo Kort that wants to indict Rumsfeld for "war crimes" and what happened at Abu Ghraib. Attempt to try someone under diplomatic immunity for "malfeasance against mankind"? Hah! That would involve a goodly percentage of the ambassadors to the UN.

OK.

William Kunstler, from what city in the United States?
Rachel Meerpol from what city in the United States?
Who went to Germany?
How many more members in this group?
How are they funded?
Where are their offices?
Are there more than ten in the entire organization?

Has anyone asked them to tell us what is their ultimate goal? Shari'a Law?
