The national trend was to send Democrats to the House, but DuPage County held firm Tuesday, voting in Republican Peter Roskam over wounded Iraq war veteran Tammy Duckworth, who lost both legs in combat.
The traditionally Republican DuPage gave Roskam a 6,000-vote margin, more than enough to overcome Democrat Duckworth's edge among suburban Cook County voters in the battle to replace the retiring Henry Hyde.

Nice to see that the Republicans were able to hold onto this seat--one that the Democrats were trying to take.
Despite a depressing Tuesday night, this seat brought a smile to my otherwise dreary face. For the few weekends, I engaged in GOTV activities to help defend Hyde's seat from the Blue Wave. It was the first campaign that I taken part in. It was both exciting and exhausting. I am glad that my efforts paid off.
This win and Marilyn Musgraves' win in Colorado were both bits of good news. :)
I followed this race since Duckworth was in my hubby's Bn....We are both glad she went down to defeat.....

Plus Jim Gerlach and Dave Reichert. Jim was declared done for late Tuesday night but the final count put in over. Dave probably benefited from the big rain. :-)

also if Pryce holds on in Ohio and Wilson In New Mexico. and Shays after calling out Teddy.
Mark Kirk (R) in the adjoining district also won in a fairly close race. However, Melissa Bean (D) won a second term in Phil Crane's old seat. Unfortunately, the NW Chicago suburbs are becoming less Republican over time.
