The article reports that the deal has not been finalized, but Microsoft would "offer sales support of Suse Linux" sold by Novell. The two companies are planning a press conference later today to announce the details.

It will be interesting to see what effect this has on SCO vs Everyone. Apparently Microsoft has decided that their prior practice backdoor funding of SCO in an attempt to kill Linux is a bad idea. On the other hand this may be Microsoft hedging their bets; I still wouldn't be buying SCO stock any time soon, though.

I had to check that this wasn't Scappleface :)
Maybe it's a backroom deal MS cut with Novell so that Novell won't persue how much MS was directly and indirectly funding the SCO lawsuit.

Speaking of backroom deals, I forgot to mention that the article says Microsoft won't assert patent rights against Novell in the Suse Linux software.
