Granted, longterm weather forecasts are like flipping a coin but the Weather Channel is showing long-range forecasts through next Wednesday that indicate a warm and rather dry Election Day for most of the country.
Highs throughout most of the heartland will be in the 50s and 60s. Rain is forecast for states in the Mississippi Valley (including Missouri) but it should otherwise be dry throughout the rest of the country. If this proves accurate, I don't think there will be significant reasons for low turnout on Tuesday.

Are things so bad in GOP-sympathetic ranks that we are hitching our wagon on weather reports? Not I. Although it will be a nail-biter. Economy is doing well and the markets are hitting record highs. I think if the business community *knew* Dems were re-taking Congress, they'd be selling short.

Yes.
The economy is a funny thing and I think usually a good economy doesn't work in any kind of strong favor of any incumbent, but a bad one works against an incumbent. I pointed this out to dems a lot when they insisted Gore had 2000 sewn up because the economy was so good.
I think when things are good, people take it for granted, and when it's bad, it burns them up.

The economy may be so good that some people believe they can afford to have liberals in office again (higher taxes, raise minimum wage, more government bennies, etc.)

You are correct on the last point. My post should have said, "for protecting the Constitution
from interpretations allowing torture and arbitrary unlimited time imprisonment of U.S. citizens.

U P D A T E It appears as if the weather system will be further east than the earlier forcast. This means it will likely affect Ohio and Tennessee more than Missouri. There is also a weather system dumping rain in Washington, Idaho and eastern Montana. Temperatures will be moderate - what you'd expect for early November.
Shouldn't stop any broken glass Republicans from voting, should it?

my income is considerably lower than during the Clinton-Gore glory years and my expenses for fuel, clothing, and utilities are considerably higher. That's strange - wages are higher than they were during the Clinton years. When you take inflation into account - fuel, clothes and utilities are no higher than they were in the '90s - and some are lower.

"arbitrary unlimited time imprisonment of U.S. citizens."Only if they are enemy combatants - meaning they are traitors. That calls for execution.
"preserving social security in its present form.'
It was Bill Clinton who announced that Social Security in it's "present form" would be bankrupt in 30 years. That's OK with you?
