Early voting is up statewide (Up 45% in TN)
Shelbyville Times-Gazette ^ | Wednesday, November 1, 2006 | By Clint Confehr

Early voting is up by about 45 percent across Tennessee, according to the state elections coordinator. Meanwhile, Summer Leverette, deputy administrator of elections in Bedford County, says 3,135 had voted by 9:15 this morning.

That's out of 21,096 registered voters here.

"Early voting is heavier than it's been," reports Brook Thompson, the state's elections coordinator, who's compared early voter turn out through Saturday to a similar period of time during early voting four years ago.

Bedford County's early voting poll closes at 5 p.m. today and tomorrow. Thursday is the last day to vote early. Early voting is in the basement of the Bedford County Courthouse.

Election day is Tuesday next week.

Is this a Red or Blue district ??? My thoughts - If this is a black & blue district, Corker's ads have backfired. If this is a red district, Ford's in trouble.

In the last election cycle, the pundits claimed that early voting helped the GOP. Hard working GOP voters would not have to stand in line as long.

Bush Cheney - 61%

Kerry Edwards - 38%

90% White, 8% African American

It doesn't sound like a district where Ford Jr. would be expected to perform well.

In my opinion early voting is always good for Republicans. Democrats are too lazy to vote at all half the time much less vote early.

Long lines every day, 30 minute waits were common.

Retirees should go vote early to free up the polling places for working people on Election Day. This is also easier on the elderly, because they don't have to stand in long lines to vote. The last day for early voting in Texas is this Saturday.

I've noticed very heavy traffic every time I drive past the local early voting location in my FL district. I went to vote this morning and while I didn't have to wait, there were several people voting as well as a steady number of people finishing and arriving. This was at 10:15 in the morning in a VERY heavy republican district.

You may need to check that - I thought the last day in Texas was Friday the 3rd.

Absolutely! Dems need a date that they can plan on either staying sober or getting a ride from a DNC dork.

They usually opted for the getting a ride option. This way they dont have to stay sober. This is also why they dont have the brain power to figure out a butterfly ballot.

don't you mean:
Bush Cheney - 61%
Kerry Edwards - 38%

90% European American, 8% African American

I voted on Monday and it was an hour and a quarter wait. This is a very Republican area. Don't forget we also have a constitutional amendment to vote on banning gay marriage.

"early voting" is dumb. "absentee" voting I understand.

Here in my heavily red county in NC, the early voting place has had constant lines out the door every day since it opened a week ago.

The moonbat Democrats just don't understand - as right as they think they are and as loud a megaphone they have in the media - that there is far fewer of THEM than there are of US. I've said all along this election year "where are their votes going to come from" in the alleged tsunami.

I stand by that - GOP maintains Senate and House and it's not nearly as close as expected. Dems become even more unhinged...
