A South Fulton County homeowner was shot early Monday by a masked intruder claiming to be an FBI agent, police said.
The suspect kicked in the back door of the home on Hidden Court, in a subdivision off Welcome All Road, about 4 a.m., setting off the home's burglar alarm, Fulton police Cpl. Gary Syblis said.
The 53-year-old victim told police he got out of bed and heard the suspect coming up the stairs, yelling, "FBI, FBI, FBI," Syblis said.
Syblis said the homeowner confronted the suspect, who was wearing a ski mask and dark clothing.
The suspect fired four times, striking the victim once in the stomach. The victim returned fire, but apparently did not hit the suspect, who fled the home after the shooting.
The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. His condition was not immediately available.
So, I'm not sure I understand this. Was it a JBT or a real JBT who broke into the house. Any experts care to comment?
I'd say since it was just one guy we're talking unofficial JBT.
Let's hope the victim doesn't get sued by the ACLU.
I believe this is a mature gang member's tactic employed at various locations throughout the US. i.e. members of gangs in high school, remained in the inner cities and suburbs, matured in criminal behavior into their 30s, and have employed the tactic when discovered by owners during burglaries and home invasions when teaching younger gang members how victims react/respond to the false announcement.
Whether or not this particular incident was gang related is a different issue.
If it was the real FBI, they would have shot his dog first.
How appropriate!
No shock granades, No teargas.......Not the FBI.
LOL and there would have ben forty of them dressed in their Ninja suits
Axhandle & bboop, this is the exactly the situation that illustrates the dangers that common no-knock raids create.
These types of raids really make having a handgun for your own protection useless because all an intruder has to do is shout "police! get on the floor!" and the homeowner is completely defenseless.
If a homeowner doesn't believe the intruder is the police and shoots the intruder then the homeowner gets the death penalty for shooting a cop. If the homeowner is wrong and believes the intruder really is the police then he and his family get the death penalty right there in home.
I have never understood how anyone that supports the 2nd amendment can also support the common use of no-knock raids since it basically makes gun ownership useless for defense.
Given the pervasive use of no-knock or knock-and-enter practices by LEO's throughout the nation (which often invovle the police coming into a home like a thief in the night), a home owner that reacts to defend himself and his family can meet a tragic fate from the police or the criminal.
mark.
You check the ID/Creds on the dead body, if it has any.
BTTT
And if there is an ID/Cred found on the dead body and it belongs to a LEO, you are (a) likely to be shot by another LEO, or (b) facing murder charges. Of course, that should really not concern anyone, in that no price is too high to pay in the never ending effort by those among us that want to dictate how others live (the reasons for no-knock and knock-and-enter LE procedures). It's acceptable collateral damage in that case.
Please add me to the ping list. Mucho gracias.
De Nada. Welcome aboard!
