Hilaly praises Iraq jihadists
NEWS.com.au ^ | 10/30/06 | Richard Kerbaj

SHEIK Taj al-Din al-Hilaly has praised militant jihadists in Iraq and Afghanistan, calling them men of the highest order for fighting against coalition forces - which include Australian soldiers - to "liberate" their homelands.
(snip)
In the interview, Sheik Hilaly pays tribute to Sayyid Qutb, the ideologue of the Muslim Brotherhood and intellectual mentor of Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda.

(snip)
The revelation comes as a neighbouring cleric from Sydney's Bankstown accused Sheik Hilaly of supporting military Islamic jihad against the West and called on imams from around the country to band together and force the mufti to step down.
Sheik Ibrahim El-Shafie yesterday said Sheik Hilaly was a follower of the Egyptian Islamic scholar Qutb, one of the founding fathers of modern jihad, whose teachings are seized upon by al-Qaeda and Jemaah Islamiah.

(snip)
As the Lebanese Muslim Association, which hosts the Lakemba Mosque, was last night still divided about how to handle the Hilaly crisis, Sheik Shafie launched a scathing attack on his fellow Sunni cleric.
Sheik Shafie said Sheik Hilaly was "extremist" who posed as a moderate for political advantage which ultimately gained him citizenship.
"This person is acting like a chameleon," he told The Australian yesterday. "The chameleon, if it stands on green spot it turns green. If it stands on a blue spot it turns blue - so he's camouflaging.
"He might say we condemn such and such but then on the other side, when he is with his followers in the mosque, he'll start expressing his anti-Western views."
Sheik Shafie said the nation's imams needed to unite to remove him as spiritual leader at Lakemba, where he presides over the largest group of Muslim worshipper in Australia.

"Sheik Shafie told The Australian that Sheik Hilaly had since arriving in Australia in 1982 defended Qutb's radical ideology and praised him as a "martyr for Islam" and a "role model"."

Where he comes from I don't know. Where I'd like to see him go...well let's just say it's a bit warm there.

He is an Egyptian. I wonder how long Australia is going to let him run his mouth before he is deported back to Egypt. I have a feeling the Egyptian government will know how to deal with him. His every utterance is proof he is not fit to be allowed to live in the West.

Hey moron, the insurgents in Iraq are slaughtering innocent civilians, including women and children. They have no courage.

Exactly! This article is (IMO) another example of the war inside Islam.

There is also no mistaking other similarities, such as the fixation with written authorities. The place of Marx and Lenin is taken by the Koran, references are made not to Gramsci but to Sayyid Qutb. Instead of the international proletariat, it takes as its revolutionary subject the Umma, and as its avant-garde and self-appointed representative of the masses it takes not The Party but the widely branching conspiratorial network of Islamist fighters. Although the movement can draw on older rhetorical forms which to outsiders may sound high-flown or big-mouthed, it owes many of its idées fixes to its Communist enemy: history obeys rigid laws, victory is inevitable, deviationists and traitors are to be exposed and then, in fine Leninist tradition, bombarded with ritual insults.

The movement's list of favourite foes is also short on surprises: America, the decadent West, international capital, Zionism. The list is completed by the unbelievers, that is to say the remaining 5.2 billion people on the planet. Not forgetting apostate Muslims who may be found among the Shiites, Ibadhis, Alawites, Zaidites, Ahmadiyyas, Wahhabis, Druze, Sufis, Kharijites, Ishmaelites or other religious communities.

(snip)

Contrary to what the West appears to believe, the destructive energy of Islamist actions is directed mainly against Muslims. This is not a tactical error, not a case of "collateral damage". In Algeria alone, Islamist terror has cost the lives of at least 50,000 fellow Algerians. Other sources speak of as many as 150,000 murders, although the military and the secret services were also involved. In Iraq and Afghanistan, too, the number of Muslim victims far outstrips the death toll among foreigners. Furthermore, terrorism has been highly detrimental not only to the image of Islam but also to the living conditions of Muslims around the world.

The Islamists are as unconcerned about this as the Nazis were about the downfall of Germany. As the avant-garde of death, they have no regard for the lives of their fellow believers. In the eyes of the Islamists, the fact that most Muslims have no desire to blow themselves and others sky high only goes to show that they deserve no better than to be liquidated themselves. After all, the aim of the radical loser is to make as many other people into losers as possible. As the Islamists see it, the fact that they are in the minority can only be because they are the chosen few.

Which is more cruel, raising your child as a Muslim or naming him similar to Hillary? Maybe he hates America because he grew up with a name like Hillary?

Sheik Hilali suffers heart attack

“Outside the hospital, Lebanese Muslim Association Tom Zreika released a statement from the sheik which indicates that he will stand down as Australia's leading Muslim cleric.

The sheik had asked for "indefinite leave" from preaching at Lakemba Mosque and would decide shortly what steps to take, Mr Zreika said. “

I strongly suspect that this heart attack thing is just nonsense. Hilali is playing and pretending and this is not the first time.

I said this a couple of days ago in another thread that we need to seriously review our current immigration, citizenship and most importantly the grant of permanent residency policies and laws for Australia.

Hilali only speaks for a very small percentage of Muslims i.e. the “Lebanese Muslim Community” in Australia. Other Muslims from non-Arab countries are quite secular and the women do not wear the hijab and are well integrated into the wider Australian society and culture.

Hilali and his followers are being monitored, I am pretty sure of that, and I very much doubt that most Muslim or non-Muslim Australians would protest or be unhappy if Hilali and his followers were stripped off their citizenship and were deported. It is very possible that the Australian Government is just waiting for the right opportunity.

Editorial: Immigration advice ignored - Hilali was granted permanent residency in Australia, long ago, when the labor/leftist federal government (ALP - Paul Keating) was in charge.

Is this guy an Australian or a immigrant?

It really shouldn’t matter whether he was born in Australia or migrated to Australia. Some of the Muslim fundamentalists and/or their supporters in Australia are second generation Australians (born and raised here). Some even have Australian heritage. It may or may not surprise you to know that most ‘immigrants’ in this country are, actually, very grateful to be here and uphold the Australian law and values more dearly than some of those who were born here.

The issue is that of dangerous leadership, inciting violence, mindset & mentality, and preaching against integration or assimilation into broader Australian culture and way of life. This needs to be addressed, IMO, at multiple levels and both by the Australian government authorities as well various communities including and especially the Muslim community.
