Who needs the evening news, when people pretty much get their news by surfing the Internet during the day? This is very true. I watch Brit Hume's program primarily for the panel discussion topics. Most of the news, I've already read.

Dump Perky, Let Rush do the news, at least you'd have 20 million viewers.

Probably had an affair with Dukakis while his wife was at Betty Ford.

Heck with Free Republic, we usually hear about the big stories even before the all-news channels cover them.

Yeah, but she DID beat out "Fly fishing, with Cheech Marin" on cable channel 147.

You know, I've never seen one of her broadcasts but I've heard her do her soundbite commentary at about 5:00 every afternoon on CBS radio top-of-the-hour news. She sounds "little girlish" to me. Yesterday's op ed was about "scary chemicals". It seems Perky is doing her 'Today' routine on the famous CBS Evening News!
Basically, her voice is not the voice of a serious evening newscast.

If she doesn't find you handsome, at least she should find you handy...or something like that.

In Red Green I see a couple of colors of the spectrum. In Katie, I see red.

Can you imagine her on election night? I would love to see it when Republicans keep control, etc. How will she cope? Will she cry and throw a tantrum?

Does anyone know whether network affiliates are bound by contract to run the evening news?
If not, I can't see program directors putting up with this level of failure.
They could run Bingo in that slot and do better.

1.1 rating / 2 share means that 1.1 percent of the televisions in the LA market (second largest in US) and 2 percent of the sets that were being viewed were tuned to her during time Perky was on air.
Huge Disaster. Gomer Pyle reruns in Spanish and taxi dispatchers probably got better numbers than that.
Huge $ loss, because advertisers pay by the number of viewers watching ("delivered"), and in LA, she is not delivering.
Horrible, because she needs to do well in liberal, urban market. In addition, other markets will follow.
Even worse, this was without a major crisis to send viewers to more authoritative male anchors.

The sad thing is that the networks are in perpetual denial. They'll repackage, rephrase, renovate & reinvent yet they just cannot come to the reality that we regular folk will never accept the elitist paradigm.

Katie Couric - She is to Evening News, what a sideline reporter is to football.

I'd MUCH rather watch the DIY Channel than Katie Perky.
