ANKARA - A 15-year-old girl who gave birth to a child which she said resulted from a rape became the latest victim of so-called “honour killings” in Turkey, newspapers said on Monday.
The young girl, from a mainly Kurdish town near Turkey’s eastern border with Iran, was murdered by an elder brother on Saturday, press reports said.
The victim, named only as Naile, had apparently not been aware she was pregnant until she started feeling unwell and was admitted to a hospital, where she gave birth to a boy, the reports added.
She later told her mother that the pregnancy had resulted from a rape. When other members of the family heard the news, the elder brother shot her dead at point-blank range in a street of the town, and then fled.
The Vatan newspaper quoted the local public prosecutor as saying that the family were believed to have convened a meeting at which they designated the brother to kill the girl, in order to remove what they saw as a stain on their honour.
In recent years the Turkish government has stepped up its efforts to crack down on such crimes, which now carry a life prison sentence.
Most “honour killings” in Turkey occur in the mainly Kurdish southeast of the country. Saturday’s incident was in the town of Baskale.
I can't help but wonder if her brother was the baby's father and he wanted to silence her.

Probably not. It is actually quite common that Muslims do these 'mercy killings' if they suspect their daughter of adultry. It's just all part of the religion of peace stuff.

The rapist did nothing wrong. It was this girl who is to blame and was rightfully killed according to Muslim law. It is such a wonderful relgion.
Kind of hard to figure out who the rapist was without a witness.
Understand that in this culture, rape is always the fault of the raped. Men are not expected to exhibit self-control in the presence of women unless there is a male relative of the woman present. If a woman is alone in the presence of a male she is not related to, it is her fault and she is fair game. She is supposed to die rather than submit to rape.

So, she was fair game for murder either way - victim of rape or conceiving an illegitimate child. Now, imagine if the muslim world was dominated by women. Rape and assorted crimes against women would cease.... considering if the perps were mercifully castrated....
And somewhat related to this subject - - - in this day and age, how could any woman - muslim or otherwise - get pregnant and carry the baby to full term, AND NOT KNOW THEY ARE PREGNANT?????? Stupidity or denial?
