Leftists to "take to the streets" if GOP wins (vanity)
Self | "Atomic Conspiracy"

It would appear that the left's confidence in a Democratic election victory is slipping and they plan to respond as totalitarians always do when their pretense of mass support is punctured: Crank up the conspiracy theories and take to the Streets.

As Lyn Davis Lear (a lefty elitist if there ever was one) says:

"Here are some questions: Are these guys simply narcissistic idiots Rove-ing around in some never-never land bubble or do they know something we don’t? Have they planned a grab bag nose punch of an October/November surprise? Or have Diebold, ES&S, and local state secretaries assured them that they will do “whatever it takes” to get a Republican Congress elected again? Or are they just planning to outspend us?".....

"When I asked Gore Vidal at dinner why the White House seemed so serene and at ease about the vote, he replied that, this time around, the Bush-Cheney henchmen could simply call on martial law. He glumly noted that we are so far down the road toward totalitarianism that, even if Democrats do win back the Congress, it would take at least two generations before the last six years of damage to the nation could be reversed. Gore frankly despaired that any amount of time could ever return the country to where and what it previously was. This prediction left me reaching for some Fernet Branca."

"But whether it is hubris, loony tunes, or both, the White House’s freakish calm about the elections makes me as nervous as the hell we seem to be headed for. Therefore we should all be on alert. If for whatever reason we don’t win back Congress in November the only real answer will be to take to the streets."

It is most unlikely that the media-based leftist elite actually believe these conspiracy theories. Vidal is a touchstone but not a genuine insider. What they do believe is that they can use conspiracy theories and their hordes of brainless conformists to delegitimize and disrupt the election. After that, they will attempt to make what amounts to a back room deal with Rove et al. The result will be an end to the election chaos in return for racial gerrymandering of Congressional districts, a free hand for totalitarian activists on campus, and an end to any attempt to keep illegal aliens from voting, among other concessions.

A similar "understanding" and tacit truce allowed radical forces to capture control of the Democratic party after the 1968 convention riots.

I should add that I don't think it will work this time. The media-generated uprising depends crucially on the credibility of the complicit media. They had that in 1968, thanks to an ideological monopoly of the small number of outlets. They don't have it today. If Walter Cronkite had claimed that LBJ was declaring martial law and rounding up hippies, millions would have believed him on no other evidence. If Katie Couric made the same claim today, she would be run out of town on a rail.

We should pay attention to what ANSWER is planning for the period immediately after election day. If they are quietly assembling activists for massive protests, you know things are going to get hot. It really depends on what level of funding Soros is planning to provide. He can count on the MSM falling into line as much as possible.

Democrats should just stay home on Election Day. We're just going to wipe out their votes with DIEBOLD, anyway. Why should they bother to vote?

Guess so. Leftists aren't big on track records. I wonder if he was one of the many lefty freaks who predicted a draft if the President was re-elected in '04? Still waiting for that draft, by the way...

These loons talk about "taking to the streets" every time it rains. They're not worthy of taking seriously.

Convict them of felonies, and then ban them from voting. Wouldn't that be a hoot!

That's the problem with not having a spine. When you threaten to take to the streets, you don't put much of a scare in to anybody.

Nancy Pelosi picking out her House suite before the election isn't suspicious to the Libs.. Only when Conservatives are confident does it fall under suspicion? LOL!

When the libs lose again in spite of their voter fraud they will be more UNhinged than we've ever seen them.. and they is pretty UNhinged!

Oh, right, the "martial law" thing again. Two years ago one of my fellow teachers predicted that if it even looked like Kerry would win, the Ev-eel Republicans would "declare martial law" and stop the election.

I said, "Nonsense."

He assured me it would happen.

I said, "I bet you 5 dollars no such thing happens."

Immediately he began to hem and haw. He didn't want to bet, he said, he was just warning us.

I said, "Okay, one dollar."

No, no, no, don't want to bet.

"Fifty cents. You can't even risk 50 cents? A minute ago you were positive, are you really afraid of losing 50 cents?"

Finally he agreed to bet and shook my hand.

As you remember, early polls showed Kerry well in the lead. Was martial law declared? Was the vote stopped? No, of course not.

Did he pay up? No, of course not. He argued with me for weeks that the "disenfranchised minorities" were "prevented from voting" so "in effect" martial law was declared and "in effect" voting was stopped in some "disadvantaged areas" of the country. In other words, couldn't even stand to admit he'd been wrong.

Shortly after, he moved to New Zealand, where, I'm sure, he's very happy. Or at least, too broke to leave.
