Will Pelosi be Speaker of the House?

Posted on 10/19/2006 7:19:31 PM PDT by ProudFossil

This is a vanity statement concerning numerous comments by Rush, Hannity, other conservative talk show hosts, and political ads.

Listening to Rush, Hannity, and several other talk shows I repeatedly get the message that if the Democrats do carry the election that Nancy Pelosi will be third in line for the presidency. I wish to question the thinking of that using two simple premises.

The first premise is that if the Democrats do achieve control of the House of Representatives, they will impeach both Bush and Cheney. This is almost a tautology because several Democratic leaders in Congress have stated they already have the documentation drawn up, the charges prepared (the last count I saw reference to was 1,067 of them), the committees drawn up, etc., etc., to begin the process as soon as they are sworn in. It would almost be bill number HR 0001. So the first premise is true under the condition the Democrats take control of the House.

The second premise may be a bit of a stretch. But let us assume that the DNC, all the pollsters and pundits and MSM, and even some of the RINOs are correct in their evaluation of the upcoming election. If they are correct then we will see about 50 House seats and 10 Senate seats be changed. If this holds true, then I predict that Nanvy Pelosi will not be Speaker of the House.

If both premises are true the first order of business will be the immediate impeachment of both Bush and Cheney. By the second week of the new session the impeachment will be presented to the Senate. By the third week, the Senate will have had the discovery process complete (it is already completed according to some) and the trial will commence. By the fourth week both Bush and Cheney will be removed from office.

Now Nancy Pelosi will be president. Okay, she was Speaker for one month but that is all. There is one scenario in which she does not become Speaker under these conditions. That is where the Democratic powers that be realize what will happen and they manuever somebody else in as Speaker with the expectation that that person will become President.

My message is really for those conservatives who are thinking that it is time to teach the country a lesson about Democrats and liberals by staying home from the election. If they do so and the above premises do become true then the safety net these wishy-washy conservatives have thought would help them through the next two years until the next election will be gone. They are thinking that any of the nonsense brought forth by the liberals will be vetoed by Bush. But Bush will be gone and you can bet whoever is in the Presidential seat will heartily endorse anything the liberals bring forth.

Not only that but in the elections for 2008 there will be an incumbent President who is sure to be the prime candidate for the Democratic party. I doubt if even Hillary would be able to overcome that hurdle.

I pray to God my two premises will be false. I also wish the talk show personnel would present this scenario along with the more simplistic one of Pelosi becoming third in line.

Thank you.

"The first premise is that if the Democrats do achieve control of the House of Representatives, they will impeach both Bush and Cheney."

Fahgetaboutit. .....they don't (and wouldn't) have the votes.

And even if they did, it wouldn't pass the Senate.

"President Pelsosi" is a ganja-pipe dream for the Left.

They could try to impeach him, but I'm not sure they could get enough 'Rat votes to pass it out of the House. Remember that a lot of potential 'Rats that might win this November will be coming from GOP/Bush districts, and that extremist agenda won't play well. And also remember that unless the rodents get 67 of their moonbat freaks into the Senate, nobody (Bush & Cheney) is going anywhere.

No matter how many Senate seats they pick up, there will not be a high majority in the Senate to confirm a bill of impeachment. It would fail just as with Clinton. She will never be President. But we need to act as if she would.

In the case of the election results you suggest, there would be 46 GOP Senators. Removal from office would require at least 11 Republicans to vote in favor. There are fewer super-RINO's than that in the Senate. If you disagree, please name them!!

Further, I predict Lieberman will win ( a safe prediction ), and he WILL NOT agree to removal of the President.

If they are going to impeach them, they will have to do so pretty quickly. Otherwise it will impact the Presidential election, and they don't want that.

2008 is the time for the lesson (given that certain issues haven't improved).

Even if Pelosi and company managed to get an impeachment of President Bush and VP Cheney it would have taken the congress a years worth of hearings and never get the 67 votes in the Senate for removal thus more waste of time and a short 2 years for the Rats. It would also mean that impeachment is now just a formality for a President to serve and no worse than a Censure.

Your premises have nothing to do with with the radio shows statements, or reality. The Speaker of the House is third in line for the Presdiency, period. There's nothing to question: it's in the US Constitution.

You're making the leap that she will therefore be president, none of which anyone has said.

Will Pelosi be Speaker of the House?

Nope. These are local elections. Most people will vote as they always have.

"By the fourth week both Bush and Cheney will be removed from office."

Fifth week the US Military decides it has had enough and overthrows Pelosi's government. Sorry but if they railroaded it through that fast then all the rules would be out the door, and it would go to the streets. And that is exactly why it will never happen.

The left may be made up mostly of crazies, but there are a lot of master manipulators that know better than to back the right wing into a corner. The left wins by forcing the game to be played by rules, that they can manipulate to suit their purposes. When there are no rules the Ivory Tower world of the Left wing comes apart fast. Look at how the fight would break down. On the left would be the ACLU, university professors, some vegetarian tree huggers, the press, and spoiled kids out for some fun and looting. They are a group that believes in nothing beyond themselves. On the right would be the Military, National, NRA, and generally people who have weapons and believe in something greater than themselves. While the Left can probably put more people in the street, the right can keep more people there if it goes hot. The leftists know that, so they will never let things get that far of hand.

They may vote for impeachment in the house, since that just embarrasses the Republicans. But if it even got close in the Senate (and they would need some Republicans to switch sides) look for Hillary and her Clintonista friends to conveniently stab the loonies in the back.

There won't be enough of a Dem majority (if there is one at all) to do that. At least a few Democrats have enough dignity to realize how stupid and insulting the idea of impeaching and removing Bush in the first place.

Impeachment does not mean removal from office.

Ask Bill CLinton.

Dems would never get 2/3rds.

Forget about that, and Republicans will probably maintain control.
