"I will not make a single stop in this campaign season that means more to me than this one not one," former President Bill Clinton told a crowd of nearly 900 at a rally for congressional candidate Joseph Sestak in eastern Pennsylvania two weeks ago. Clinton was not exaggerating.
"A Sestak victory," observed the local Delco Times accurately, "would muzzle a Republican congressman who blames Clinton for doing irreparable harm to America's national security during the 1990s." Sestak is running against ten-term incumbent Curt Weldon. No one has burrowed more deeply into Clinton's intelligence failures and, yes, cover-ups than Weldon has.
In June 2005, Weldon revealed that Clinton administration attorneys had intervened to stop the "Able Danger" group in the Defense Intelligence Agency from initiating preventive actions against two of the 9-11 terrorists. He has also written the book "Countdown to Terror," an exposé of the government's performance prior to September 11, which won him few friends in the CIA or in the FBI.

gosh, I might be motivated now to DONATE to Weldon's campaign.
How strong is he now for re-election? This is yet another seat they are trying to steal through their usual means of course. Hopefully Republicans can retain his, Delay's and Foley's.
Weldon is well behind
I think they list his race as toss up or even leaning Dem. Of course Mollohan and Jefferson can engage in all kind of sleaze and their constituents have no problem with that. But Weldon could lose. No wonder some question the intelligence of voters.
Anyway, if Clinton is going in to campaign for the Dem, where are Mr Bush and the national GOP figures helping out Weldon?
I have a collegaue who lives in Weldon's district and he told me he is still votong for him ahnd so are all of his neighbors. Many of them are unhappy at the way the Clintons have tried to take over this election. Weldon is legendary for constituent service and is much loved as a real "pothole pol" who gets things done for the home folks.
Thanks for the post.
Clinton should be run out of town on a rail.
PA is sure in the crosshairs. Wonder if any of this hullabaloo will benefit voters in any way. Weldon is a hero, imho.
Too late. The check cleared.
Without a dog in that fight, I really don't care who is the congressman from the port area of Philly. Thus, my observation is intended to be non-partisan and poltically objective. (OK, so much for a disclaimer): It seems strange to me that the public is offered a reason to vote for a candidate for what he says or has discovered about a president now almost 7 years out of office. It seems to me, silly as it may sound, that the competing candidates properly should be measured by what each has done in his adult life as well as what each announces as his position on matters of contemporary public interest. Personally, I'd prefer that the guy I support focus on those things rather than the assertion that he can be rougher than his opponent on a past president.
Thanks for the heads up on this one, bmwcyle.
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my miscellaneous ping list.
Whatever happened to the 2 females from Chuckie Schumers office that got Lt.Gov. Mike Steele of Marylands credit report? Were they arrested? They were trying to go after candidate Steele and deep six his campaign.
It will be interesting to count all the traffic that comes from as far away as Washington D.C. to vote in Weldon's district on election day. Those votes might be called Clintonista coattails.
The fact that Clinton is actively campaigning against him, is a pretty strong recommendation for Weldon.
