I had read that this is a felony in Mexico and he could get major time. In any event, I am not necessarily a fan of the Dog, but I strongly oppose his extradition. This is disgusting beyond words. I hope Condoleeza Rice has the toughness to oppose stop this in its tracks.

Gonzalez had better let this one drop. First of all, turning an American citizen over to a foreign country for an act that isn't criminal in the US is borderline illegal. Secondly, Chapman set right a wrong that Mexico was actively involved in committing, and that is why they are so ticked off. They better let this one die on the vine. Turning a high profile, and by all accounts heroic celebrity that is immensely popular with your base over to Mexican authorities for the supposed 'crime' of capturing a fugitive from US Justice would absolutely erode base Republican support to the point of collapse. I wonder if anyone within the administration has thought anything about the political ramifications of this case?

Reciprocity should work both ways. Mexico puts huge hurdles in our way before we can extradite murderers and rapists from their country. And I don't think this country even bothers trying to extradite burglars and car thieves from Mexico. Mexico should drop this request, as this does not rise to the level of a capital crime.
I will be deeply disappointed with our government if they extradite Dog. Not only would it be a huge blow to our legal system, it would be a waste of time and money. Bounty hunting is not illegal in the US and therefore we have no obligation to extradite him to Mexico. SAVE DOG!!!!!!!!!!

No, the original illegal detention charge is a misdemeanor. Consider the $1300 bail that he paid as the fine for this "crime" and call it good.
