Scandal: Right after Mark Foley was revealed to have had inappropriate e-mail conversations with a 16-year-old page, he resigned and checked into rehab. Now, what did Democrats know, and when did they know it?

Yes, you read that right: the Democrats. It's of course clear that Foley, a Republican representative from Florida, resigned for good cause. We don't defend him or his inexcusable behavior -- good riddance.

Is this scandal the Democrats' own "October Surprise," meant to throw the GOP into a tailspin shortly before the vote?

Haven't all the 'October Surprises' been Democrats dirty tricks. I know they act like it is a Republican ploy, but it seems like every October it is the Democrats trying to pull it off.

Why isn't this being shouted from the rooftops from the RNC? I heard on GMA this morning that Hastert was invited both days and refused ABC's invitation.

Sing it loud. I'm listening.

I don't think any conservative Republican would change their vote over this issue. The reason they stick with the Republican party is because the Democrats are so amoral. And the RINOs wouldn't change their vote since they tolerate the Barneys & Teddys. Net change -- zero.

This reeks of political trickery. ....if this scandal is the Democrats' answer to their problems at the polls, it's pretty pathetic.

It reeks bigtime, and of course it's pathetic. That politics is dirty shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone -- always has been, always will be. Let's just hope the GOP can weather the storm and come up with their own superior October Surprise.

I have a theory. How comfortable was Foley, really, being a gay republican? WHAT IF... the Dems convinced him to take this fall to help defeat the Republicans this election.

Can someone search his record (voting, etc.). If he can do something this disgusting and live such a huge lie, he might have been considering "switching" (parties that is).

We should keep an eye on what happens to him from here on out.

This story is just so bizzare that I'm just wondering.

I heard on GMA this morning that Hastert was invited both days and refused ABC's invitation.

Have you ever seen him in an interview? This guy has a hard time being effective when he's questioned by friends... never mind the DBM vutures.

As Clinton wagged his finger in the nose of every American, assuring the world that he "did not have sex with that woman", he and his closest advisors knew better. As he sat under oath before a court committing outright perjury before a world-wide audience, Democrats stood firmly at his side, crying foul, insisting that any lie about sex isn't a lie at all really.

When former New Jersey Governor James McGreevey was busted cheating on his wife and family with a young male office assistant, Democrats again rushed to his side

Democrat Representative Barney Franks didn't get busted sending private messages to his boy friend - he was busted paying a male prostitute for services. He was busted while using his elected position of power to clear his boy friend from his felony past, with convictions for cocaine possession, oral sodomy and "production of obscene items involving a juvenile."

I want to see more of this guy's stuff -- he's right on every call... http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1712770/posts?page=1

No need for a poll Kay, we know that our opinion represent that of the vast majority of people who vote Republican.

Well it's too bad, because all I heard was one side of the story this morning. I guess I'm just hoping that the Republicans will fight back before this thing gets too far out of hand.

"...He [Democrat Studds] rejected Congress' censure of him and continued to represent his district until his retirement in 1996."

But, but way back in '96 we didn't really know how dangerous child predators were!

Suffice it to say not a single one of these political dirty tricks has ever paid off for the Left, at least not in the last four decades that I've been watching. They are very much like Wiley Coyote going after the Roadrunner. No matter how good the plan sounds it always ends up blowing up in their face! Oh, it looks good for a few days, maybe even a week, but it always ends up the same. Not only does it now get the effect at the polls they want, but it usually just makes them look even worse. If they didn't have the MSM on their side these little episodes would do them great harm.

Check back in a couple of weeks, better still on the day after the elections.

I sure hope so. I'm surrounded by gullible people here at work and they seem to be buying this crap, it's kind of depressing at lunch and breaks around here.

You get the idea. Democrats not only seem OK with the kind of behavior for which Foley is charged, but also they protect and excuse it. Only when it's a Republican do they proclaim themselves shocked -- shocked! -- when it comes to light.

We have a lot more questions about this whole affair. The timing of the revelations, as we noted, couldn't be more propitious for the Democrats. Turns out both the Democrats and several newspapers seem to have known about Foley's problem as far back as November, according to research by several enterprising blogs.

Why didn't they come forward then? Who dredged up these e-mails -- and why did they hold them until now? This reeks of political trickery.
