Caracas, Oct 2 (EFE).- The leading presidential candidate of the Venezuelan opposition, Manuel Rosales, said Monday that his rival in the upcoming elections, President Hugo Chavez, plans to impose communism on the country.
"On Dec. 3 we Venezuelans will have to choose either a communist system or a democracy that guarantees us freedom, progress and prosperity," Rosales said Monday at a press conference.

Did you also notice that in the Brazilian Presidential Election, there's now a run off situation between the top two candidates instead of just having the incumbent President win again in a landslide? The present political corruption in Brazil helped in creating this.
Hopefully the people will choose wisely. If they are even allowed to choose anymore.
Jimmy Carter will be in there vouching for the fairness of the elections. Just like last time.
I really like the web sources you use Kitten. I've been collecting quite a few of those in my "Favorites" folder recently. Keep it up!
Don't worry, Chavez will rig the elections and Jimmy Carter will say that they were fair and unrigged.
I'd rather see Chavez and all his cronies dragged into the street and hacked into bloody gobbets by an unruly machete-weilding mob, but I'll take his ouster in whatever form it comes, I guess.
Eeeeeeuuw!
It doesn't take a genius to see that Chavez is a Communist, but it takes a brave man to say it in Venezuela now.
The blind pig called Time Magazine did find an acorn in the interview with Chavez. He explicitly stated that Third Way-style socialism was not his thing, and that "pure socialism" was the answer.
Also Lula's involvement with Chávez and his governments promise to vote for Venezuela for a Security Council seat made people stop and think.

Duh!
Sadly, Chávez will win. You will not believe this but the more people vote against Chávez the more chances will Chávez have of winning. You see, his electoral college (CNE)is controlled by him. He has promised 10 million votes in his favor, and, as long as masses of people go to vote against him, the CNE will change the votes around to pro Chávez votes. If people abstain from voting and the voting centers are empty, the CNE will not be able to justify a 10 million landslide. The only problem is the fingerprint machines that violate the secret ballot. They were taken out during the last assembly elections in December; the reason why most people didn't vote. Now they have not been eliminated. It is strange why now members of the opposition claim that they don't violate the secret ballot. Another catch is that CNE only allows about 30% of paper ballots to be counted to corroborate the electronic results. That plus Jimmy Carter's help will make a fraud seem like the cleanest elections in history.
