Shocker At the Polls: A Republican
The New York Sun ^ | 9-22-06 | Alicia Colon

Posted on 09/23/2006 9:20:00 AM PDT by R.O.Thornhill

A funny thing happened when I went to vote in the primary election. I signed in at my district's desk and a poll worker printed my information on a green card. She gave the card to another worker, who adjusted some mechanism on the side of the voting booth. I entered the booth and soon discovered I could not push down the lever for my candidate. When I asked for assistance, the poll worker checked the lever and said with a shocked tone: "You're a Republican?"

Slowly but surely we're gaining in NYC, which is 90 percent 'Rat. Great to see Ms. Colon's article in the otherwise liberal "Sun"

Don't change the headline from what it was at the source, or post articles like this in Activism/Chapters topic.

Is Ms. Colon writing this piece 'tongue-in-cheek'??? If not, why don't I hear sirens wailing to arrest those ballot "workers"? Making a person wait until Democrats have voted, to change the machine???!!! Yeah, riiiggghhhttt. This is almost as criminal as Dan Rather's attempt to manipulate an American Presidential election.

If the shoe were on the other foot, this would be voter intimidation and vote suppression.

Good deal. The more it is seen as ok to be a Republican, the faster this sea change will occur. Beat the lefties with humor, charm, and superior ideas. Kinda like Rush does.

Incompetence is not an arrestable offense. Had they been Republicans working the ballots, the place wouldn't have been such a clusterflop.

I would not have been so patient with having to wait for some dim to come in to vote. The audacity of those poll workers was inexcusable.

The most important thing I took away from the article was how it was BLACK GOP'ers wanting to change. Especially the Black entrepenure who wanted to bankroll GOP candidates. In NY! THATS a story worth telling. Seems they are finally starting to see that the plantation still exists...its called Democratic ideas that keep blacks right where they want them...as perpetual victims and never getting out.

Exactly right.

In 2004 my wife asked an election official at the booth to show how the voting machine operates. He's shown how to vote straight democratic ticket - all what's left was just to pull the lever...

In 2008 they would probably pull the lever, too.

In Staten Island we just don't have Republican primaries. I've seen maybe three or four in 20 years. When I went to vote they asked me if I was a rat. I laughed at the question and waited until the worker got my meaning without saying anything else. Laughing at Democrats I meaning pointing at them and laughing out loud is something we in my family have been doing for a few years. Try it. It's lots of fun to watch them squirm. They're not used to being challenged. Many are speechless.

Fear and intimidation by gangstas on the mean streets of NYC keep the voters in line, much like Capone ruled in Chicago.

Much of the Dem vote is the direct result of thuggery.

We can be hopeful, though, as things slowly begin to unravel for the Dems in the Northeast.

My father, (WW2)myself, (Vietnam) poke fun loudly at libs in collegetown restaurants to the discomfiture of both our wives (who kick us under the table), even though they are devout Conservatives too.

"Don't go starting something now. Eat your dinner."

Fun, eh? I know it spoils liberal chow while enhancing ours.

What will they say? Usually, it's nothing but bad looks and wimpy stares.

Hooah!

I'd wait until the food is served. Wouldn't want rat spit in my dinner.

"You're a Republican? Go sit in the corner awhile." Some animals are more equal than others.
