Suspended with PAY? Incredible. The teacher acts like a buffoon and gets a paid vacation. And who says the teachers' unions aren't powerful.
The teacher should be in jail right now awaiting a bail hearing.

I'm waiting to hear the process they used. They don't say either way if the lancets were washed in alcohol between students, so we're left to assume they weren't. But it wouldn't be the first time a reporter failed to ask.

WHAT? What college did this dufus attend?
AIDS and hepatitis are not the only things you can catch from a used needle. I wonder if the kids used alcohol on the puncture area. There are a lot of things that can be found on human skin that don't go well in punctures or the bloodstream. Staph, strep, E. coli, to name a few.

Clearly this is a call for additional funding if the school can't afford a lancet for each student. </ sarcasm>

I'm diabetic and test my blood daily using entirely sterile on-shot lancets that cost about $5.00/hundred. There's just no legitimate reason at this modest cost for that teacher not to provide each student with his/her own one-shot lancet. The suspension was entirely proper, especially due to the great danger of transmitting serious diseases like AIDS.
