El Mundo reports that Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez stated that he believes the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks were orchastrated by George W. Bush. In a public speech, Chavez commented that "...the hypothesis is that it was the same North American imperial power that planned and conducted these terrible terrorist acts against its own people and against citizens of the whole world. For what? In order to justify the immediate aggression that they unleashed against Afghanistan and Iraq, and the threats against all of us." Chavez made reference to theories put forth in a state television appearance by journalist and humorist Carlos Sicilia, indicating tha they were supported by "scientists and famous architects." Chavez went on to say that "Sicilia's hypothesis that the Twin Towers were exploded with dynamite and that there was a collection of explosives inside of the towers has not been disproved. Its cause is still not clear, who directed the terrible act that in seconds ended the lives of thousands and gave an excuse to the North American Empire to retaliate with fury against the world."

These conspiracy theorists are so rabid that one person PopSci interviewed refused to allow them to print direct quotes from him so that they couldn't be twisted and taken out of context by the crackpots.
I thought President Bush was stupid... Maybe he's an idiot savant, and incredibly talented at orchestrating conspiracies, but nothing else. I hope they keep spewing these conspiracy theories right up until November.
Sort of a chapter in the current version of "The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion" - Every mass totalitarian movement needs its ugly smears and lies in order to incite the masses to anger against "imperialism" / "the capitalist system." If it were not such a clear and present danger it would be sort of comical. But let us face the facts. How many of the audience who Chavez plays to even know about the Okhranha, Porgroms, the rise of the 3rd Reich, Communist propaganda from the 1960s, etc.

Chavez is like a little buzzing fly. He's annoying but too insignificant to do anything about. I think he knows this and it makes him act even more outrageous. I picture a little kid jumping up and down screaming "Notice me! Notice me!"

Even if there was dynamite (there wasn't), it would not be too hard to believe that it was planted there not by George W. Bush but by the terrorists to insure that the buildings went down as intended.
At least, that was the first thing that came to my mind when I first heard the explosives theory.

The crackpots bring out two things. One is that the fire wasn't hot enough to melt stell, but the temperatures were well hot enough to weaken it by 50%. The other is the smoke and concrete plumes out the side, but when floors full of air, dust and smoke pancake, it all has to go somewhere, which will be out the windows.
