A Republican state senator who is the lead sponsor said it's the first legislation of its kind in the U.S. Correction: A RINO state senator who is the lead sponsor said it's the first legislation of its kind in the U.S.
No way would I do this to my daughter if she were that age.

Here's how I see it: Where the parents are paying attention to what's going on in their daughter's life, they opt out. If the parent(s) is NOT paying attention, that shot could save that kid's life.

I can understand schools requiring immunization against communicable dieases that spread during ordinary activity. It is necessary to protect the kids from one another.
That is not the case for this disease. It is a STD. It is communicated from males to females via sexual intercourse.
While it may be wise to immunize young girls, it should not be a requirement. Besides intruding on the rights of the parents there may be unknown long term effects.
This is but one more rational for home schooling.

In studies, it was credited with preventing disease from the two types of HPV that are responsible for approximately 70 percent of all cervical cancers, according to Detroit television station WDIV. This isn't a panacea in any case.

In Arkansas hospitals, they are already giving hepatitis-c shots to NEWBORNS - no consent required.
They are assuming everyone is a hooker, drug addict, homosexual?

Any daugher of mine would definitely be getting the vaccine. I'm a very big proponent of disease prevention via any disease and get all vaccinations possible. A multi-level approach is the best. ANd the arguement that a vaccine against one STD is going to increase likelihood of engaging in sexual activity doesn't hold water when you that to the sex drive intensity of teenagers. That's where the sexual activity comes from, not a needle in the arm.

Not for my girl it won't. She will not have sex until she is married (my husband and I pray) and if she goes against our teachings and does choose fornicate, she will have to go out and get her own shot when she is 18.

A bipartisan group of Michigan lawmakers wants all sixth-grade girls to be vaccinated against cervical cancer.Clever packaging there. The vaccination is againts HPV. There's no such thing as a cancer vaccine.

Why would they do this? Last time I checked, you can't get cervical cancer from sitting beside a boy, from breathing the same air or even touching the same door knobs of a carrier. Or are they getting prepared for their "hands-on" sex education classes?

I am FOR the government promoting the hell out of things that are good for you.
I am FOR the government warning of things that are bad for you.
And I am FOR a CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT to once and forever stop the government at all levels from mandating either.

Wow. Mandatory vaccinations against an STD. And they call it a vaccination against "cervical cancer" to make it more palatable.
Who didn't see this coming?

Liberal response to decades of teaching sex to students in government schools. First we are treated to abortion on demand until moment of birth; states allowing non-parental adults taking under age girls to abortion mills and/or taking across state lines to get them in other states; abortion pill OK'd then OK'd to be sold over-the-counter; anyone over 18 (yet to buy cigarettes, sign says you must be 27 in my state); rampant Herpes Virus of genitals that can result in cervical cancer.
Once upon a time, cervical cancer was limited to prostitutes' sexual exposure to many partners - now it's American girls, so the usual liberal response, vaccinate them, and it's the government's job to do it in schools so that "their ignorant parents don't get the opportunity to object".
Why not go back to the source - Sex Ed in schools; predator teachers; etc. Sex Ed being taught in schools was the camel's nose under the tent to our vulnerable youth - "we need to do that to prevent unmarried teens from getting pregnant." No matter that pregnancy rates soared 400% after but a few years.
