TERRI IRWIN, the widow of Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin today spoke for the first time about the loss of her "soulmate" in a freak accident off the north Queensland coast. In a statement read by her father-in-law Bob Irwin today, Mrs Irwin described her late husband as as her "soul mate" and thanked the community for their "overwhelming outpouring of love, support and prayers". Bob Irwin today announced the details of a memorial service for the larger than life conservationist and television personaility.

It will be held at Australia Zoo on Queensland's Sunshine Coast next Wednesday.Irwin, 44, died last Monday when he was pierced in the chest by a stingray's barb while filming a documentary on the Great Barrier Reef. His father said the service would be held at 9am (AEST) next Wednesday at the zoo's Crocoseum, which seats 5500 people. People who wanted to attend would have to make a donation to Irwin's Wildlife Warriors fund to gain admission.Large television screens will be set up at venues in Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast and the event will be broadcast live on TV in Australia, the United States and Asia.

Mrs Irwin said that although larger venues had been suggested, she believed the croc hunter would have wanted it at Australia Zoo.

"I cannot see how a memorial service would work in any other place other than the Crocoseum which he built here at the zoo and of which he was so proud," Mrs Irwin said.

"I would therefore ask that everyone please bear with me in this wish and help me to make this happen."

The croc hunter's close friend and business manager John Stainton said Mrs Irwin, Steve's father Bob and eight-year-old daughter Bindi would all speak at the memorial service.

Thanks to everybody who is still looking. I looked around for a little while earlier today and couldn't find any US listings, either. Let's keep at it!

Just listened to the song "True Blue" by John Williamson. Fitting.

"Hey, True Blue.
Don't say you're gone.
Say you've knocked off for a smoker,
And you'll be back later on."

Oh dear... I have tears even thinking about this. I'll be watching, if I can see.

But here are all the lyrics

Hey True Blue
Don't say you're gone
Say you knocked off for a smoko
And you'll be back later on
Hey True Blue
Hey True Blue
Give it to me straight
Face to face
Are you really disappearing
Another dying race
Hey True Blue
You old bastard
True Blue
Is it me and you
Is it Mum and Dad
Is it a Cockatoo
Is it standing by your mate
When his in a fight
Or just Vegemite
True Blue
Hey True Blue
Don't say you're gone
Say you knocked off for a smoko
And you'll be back later on
Hey True Blue
Hey True Blue
Give it to me straight
Face to face
Are you really disappearing
Another dying race
Hey True Blue
You old bastard
True Blue
Is it me and you
Is it Mum and Dad
Is it a Cockatoo
Is it standing by your mate
When his in a fight
Or just Vegemite
True Blue
True Blue

Here's a nice wallpaper you can use as a background on your computer. It's 1280x1024.

Since ABC is broadcasting it in Australia they might pick it up if Animal Planet doesn't.

ABC in Australia and ABC in the US are completely unrelated to each other. They share nothing except for the initials.

" ...Steve Irwin's Daughter To Carry On With TV Show
In memory of her dad...

By: Lowri Williams on 9/15/2006

The daughter of the later Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin has vowed to continue with her own TV show and carry on her beloved dad’s work.

Bindi Irwin, 8, has also pledged to swim with stingrays in her new nature series ‘Jungle Girl’.

Irwin was filming scenes for Bindi’s children show when he was struck through the heart by a stingray’s barb, he was 44.

An insider said of Bindi: “Bindi’s a real fighter, just like her dad. She loved him so much and knows he’d be proud of her picking up where he left off. She’s a natural in front of the camera and Steve would be chuffed knowing this is what she wants.”

Irwin’s family laid him to rest at his Australia Zoo earlier this week. A public memorial service will take place next Wednesday at the Zoo’s Crocoseum. ..."

YW - wish I had cable to see it, too - but as I said before, I'm certain the best clips will be all over the MSM shortly afterwards, so I can enjoy them later.

Oh dear, can you get it installed before Tuesday? It is worth basic cable just for Fox News, Animal Planet & HGTV. These are pretty much the only stations that I watch. I don't think there is much of anything I watch on regular tv except for 24.

Nah, I gave it up long ago and haven't missed it, except for occasional times like this. I just don't watch very much TV at all.

Injured stingrays no doubt turn up on beaches every so often in the ordinary course of nature. Until now, nobody would have thought to attach any significance to it.

If you downloaded it from the Crock Hunter website it won't have the blue background, only all white. If you download the image I linked to, it will be a larger version of the thumbnail photo with the blue gradient. The resolution is 1200x1080. If you need something smaller, you can shrink it with Irfanview or Photoshop.

Thank you Thank you Thank you! I love it. The white background was a little stark. I love the blue fade.

Oh my! She'll be something to watch grow up. I hope her show is successful.

This service is going to be hard to watch but worse to miss. If you don't have cable, I bet you could find a quiet local bar with a big TV that'll have it tuned in if there's no major game people are watching.

That is, if you don't mind crying in your beer a bit in public :~)
