As the Dancing With the Stars host said, Tucker Carlson - host of the MSNBC show of the same name - "has braved some of the most perilous situations in the world, but now [for] his most intimidating assignment - dancing the cha-cha-cha on national television."
It was Tucker's turn to shine on tonight's episode of Dancing With the Stars. Carlson's professional dance partner Elena Grinenko did her best to lower expectations. Said the sultry Russian "when it comes to Tucker's ability for dancing . . . " She let a grimace express her dubious assessment. But - thanks to MRC's Brent Baker - we have the video: so you be the judge!
Video clip (4:55): Windows Media (9.5 MB) or Real (8.4 MB)
I'd say Tucker exceeded the admittedly low bar that had been established. In any case, who can resist having a look at Carlson tripping the light fantastic? Could form an indelible image that will inevitably come to mind next time a serious Tucker is grilling a heavyweight politico on some weighty political issue of the day.
Dancing With The Stars/NewsBusters cha-cha Carlson ping to Today show list.
come on now ..give a vote for Tucker

What's the name of the guy he's dancing with?
Here's one who can.
That was so cute! Good sport.
Jeeeeezzzzzz Tucker...you look like someone shot your pet goldfish.
Agreed. I thought he did well.
"Tucker Carlson - host of the MSNBC show of the same name - "has braved some of the most perilous situations in the world,.."
What? Understanding his trust fund? Negotiating Dupont Circle? His spats with Grover Norquist? His bouts with the bottle?
I guess I know him a bit better than this writer.
Yeeeah ... compared to Jerry Springer.
what a schmuck!
He is cute, but he was a joke on the show, really bad. He and Tom DeLay's fave, Sara Evans, and one more were the bottom 3.
Sara looked very pretty and I thought she did well, but the judges didn't. Harry Hamlin and Jerry Springer were right down there with Tucker. There was another female who didn't do too hot, either.
Don't know who will be voted off tomorrow night, but don't be surprised if it's Tucker.
I haven't been watching the show, so this was my only experience with it. I was probably projecting anyway, because I'm such a bad dancer, I was impressed that he could get out there in front of an audience and dance (well, sort of dance). And, appear to enjoy himself.
Oh, I'm armchair "generalissimo-izing" on this. I could no more do that than fly. And I *have* had lessons and practice.
They were being hard on the first ones tonight (Tucker was first, IIRC) because they had longer time to practice than the celebs in the past have had.
Emmitt Smith really surprised me - he was good. Not as good as Jerry Rice last year, but Rice didn't start out very well, either. He's just so cute, lol.
The best guy was Mario Lopez, who used to be one of 3 talk show hosts on a man's "View" type show with Dick Clark and that real obnoxious loudmouth former kid actor who goes around hitting people, Danny something.
Lopez is kind of shy, but did have the Latino moves. Joey ("Joe" now) Lawrence was also on, with a shaved head - he was not as good as I expected, but his ego is so big, he'll probably practice 24/7 to get better.
I have no idea who Willa Ford is - it just said "pop star" for her description. I didn't care for her too much, but she did OK. Shanna Moakler, a former Miss USA, (I think) seemed like she would do well, but didn't.
Vivica Fox was outstanding - she's the oldest female. There was a girl from that "High School Musical" show that is really big now, but I didn't like her very much. Her name was either Monica or Monique, I've forgotten. She just did so-so - the judges thought her partner didn't like her. I tended to agree.
I think that's everyone. It's not as fun as last year, I don't think. I really liked the first 2 years, but I don't really have a favorite this time to root for.
Hey, how come we don't have a "Dancing With the Stars" live thread, like we do for "24"? yuk yuk!!! (I love the show)
We said last year we would start one, but nobody did. I looked around tonight and didn't see one. Guess we could!
Tucker Carlson is neither a star or a conservative.
