A mother of two has been fined for swearing at yobs who terrorised her neighbourhood.
Donna Appleyard, 32, finally snapped after months of misery in which the youths jumped over fences, trampled through gardens and shouted and swore at residents.
Ms Appleyard said she had made several complaints to police about the gang outside her home in Knottingley, West Yorkshire, but no officers had been to visit her to take the issue further.
Instead, she found herself under investigation when officers received a complaint from a 13-year-old girl, after Ms Appleyard finally lost her temper and pleaded with her tormenters: "Please, just f*** off". Two weeks later, officers called at her house and issued her with the fine.
Ms Appleyard said: "I was at the end of my tether and I admit I swore at one of them. But that's nothing compared to what my neighbours and I have suffered.
"When the police came I thought it was because I had complained. I never dreamed they had come to arrest me.
"I'm really angry that we've had to put up with this behaviour for almost a year, and then you can be taken to court and fined for shouting back at them."
Ms Appleyard was given an £80 fixed penalty notice following the incident on March 30. However, she refused to pay and was taken to court last month, when magistrates raised the sum to £120, which she must now pay or face a jail term.

Sergeant Neil Haley, from West Yorkshire police, defended the force's actions. He said: "We appreciate that anti-social behaviour can be frustrating for people but they should not take the law into their own hands."

She can't use a firearm to defend herself, she can't use a cricket bat, and she even can't even use swear words. And that's just the way the British government wants it. Maybe some Brits need to charter a yacht and christen it the Mayflower II.
My advice for Ms. Appleyard: Buy a very large dog or a Pittbull, and let us know what happens the next time some punk runs through your yard.

So she calls the cops six times and they never show up and then she swears at the punks and that's taking the law into her own hands???
What would a major crackdown on crime look like in West Yorkshire --- maybe the cops would show up after the third or fourth complaint and then they get to swear at the kids???
She was fined because she has property, and thus has something they can threaten her over. The kids, on the other hand, have nothing, so the authorities are powerless over them. The last thing they want to do is arrest them, and thus assume even more responsibility, for feeding, housing, de-lousing, etc.
Socialist governments are perpetually over-extended and underfunded.
They desperately need to get their guns back over there. I'm sure the hoodlums have them anyway and I understand there's nothing like the sound of a shotgun being engaged to make them run.
I actually pity the Brits. I could never live like that.

I spend a lot of time in London for work, and I'll tell you this much...my neighbor there wouldn't stand for this kind of crap. He's pushing 80 with a bad ticker, and I saw him give a solid headbut to some young punk who had stolen his dog and was trying to extort him to get it back because he thought he was a soft old pensioner. One of the funniest things I've seen in my life. Took Mick out for a few pints that night, and we had quite a laugh down at the pub with the rest of the crew! He's well beyond twice my age and I wouldn't mess with that guy!
