Having sent emails to CBS demanding they cancel or heavily edit their "bio" of President Reagan I am having a hard time with this one. It does actually sound like this film has some serious shortcomings in accuracy. Clinton has a lot of real issues that can be attacked. We need to be careful we do not lower ourselves to the tactics of the Libs by supporting false programs. It weakens what is on its own a strong case against his record.

TROLL ALERT

Let's see - you signed up four days ago, you are shilling for Clinton's point of view and you can't even spell "Coolidge."

You're pathetically transparent.

How's this for accuracy?:

Bill Clinton on video tape in 2002:

"Mr. bin Laden used to live in Sudan. He was expelled from Saudi Arabia in 1991, then he went to Sudan. And we'd been hearing that the Sudanese wanted America to start dealing with them again. They released him. At the time, 1996, he had committed no crime against America, so I did not bring him here because we had no basis on which to hold him, though we knew he wanted to commit crimes against America."

Buzz off pal, _I_ am the moderate voice of reason here. I don't like it when a fictionalized acount becomes history either. So I think ABC should run disclaimers to the fact that it is a fictionalization, not hard core history.

Having said that, this response on their part shows how utterly deprived of principles that they are. The Democrats in Congress should be impeached, actually.

That statement is so utterly stupid that I'm having trouble finding the words to say to you.

Other than to suggest that by stating this you have lowered yourself to their level.

It is actually two different things.

With Reagan, the lefties were portraying not policy but a condemnation of the man in the form of a hit piece.

With Pathway to 9/11, the lefties(they are Democrat donors but you won't see that anywhere) are portraying events and policies, not the people. This isn't a hit piece. This is facts about an event filled in with the usual dramatizations of the events leading up to 9/11.

Funny thing though. The Clintonistas are not bitching about the content. They are bitching about little things like slamming the phone down. There is a reason for that.

By removing Berger slamming down the phone, you have to change the content of the phone call. That's what the libs are trying to do. Destroy this production based on piddly things so that the content gets altered along with it.

By any chance, did you read Ann Coulter's book, Godless? Notice how no one in the RAT party criticized the fact that Coulter called them godless? They criticized her reference to four attention seeking sows with a political agenda.

By condemning Coulter, they tried to remove the content from being scrutinized.

It does. Richard Clarke comes across like Bruce Willis, rather than Liberace

Having sent emails to CBS demanding they cancel or heavily edit their "bio" of President Reagan I am having a hard time with this one.

Three major differences:

1) Reagan was totally disabled at the time and not far from death's door. (If Clinton was suffering from a fatal disease, there might be some merit in not wanting this shown. - of course one could argue that Clinton IS suffering from a disease)

2) The Reagan movie WAS shown - albeit on Showtime instead of CBS - but it still was shown without "edits".

3) No Republican congressmen sent implied threats to CBS about their broadcast license.

As other poster notes, the Reagan smear was a trashy attempted character assassination of an honorable man on death's door, and this covers the run-up to a very serious war that is controversial (wish it weren't). Those of us grassroots people who acted against it targeted the advertisers, who I assume made their concerns kinown to the network. Here we have a National Socialist Rat leadership threatening ABC. Top down this time. We need to have these issues exposed for the good of the country.

I think the accuracy considerations have come with the heightened attention. Historical figure X did not actually say Y. Quite a different circumstance than a Reagan documentary that I understand was scathingly pointed from beginning to end.

Even if all the tweaking possible got done, the Left in this country will still be up in arms over the mini. This is because what they believe is the truth is not the truth. They believe with all their tiny hearts that Clinton Administration inaction is blameless, and all evil comes from the Bush Administration. Their being so wrong is what makes their protests not on the same par with the protests of the Reagan thing.

hey new guy,

Awful fair minded of you to be cautious here...you sound like a tepid moderate.

Personally, notwithstanding the liberal bias of ABC, I will not be watching the show...

Two reasons:
It has already characterized itself as "fictionalized."
If it is redacted to suit the dims, that in and of itself makes it a lie.

IB4TZ!

Having NOT sent emails to CBS on the Reagan bio, I had absolutely NO problem telling Mickey Mouse and his friends not to cave.

Might I suggest "Dereliction of Duty" by Lt. Col. "Buzz" Patterson for the true story of Clinton and bin Laden. The man was ONLY carrying the nuclear football for about 2 or 3 years in the mid-90s.

Newt Gingrich was on Greta Van Susteren last night. He stressed the fact that this movie was fiction. Then he said was is at the heart of the issue: "If the Clinton Administration had been as aggressive about going after Bin Laden as they have against this movie, we would have been better off today."

It is this central failure of the Clinton Administration that could have prevented that fateful day on September 11th. It is one element of the overall failure of the Clintoon Administration to take Islamo-fascist terrorism seriously. It almost make one wonder if somehow the Clinton Administration and the DemonRATs were on the take from the states that sponsor terrorists.

"It does actually sound like this film has some serious shortcomings in accuracy."

How's this for accuracy?

"Regarding the scene, it was never clear to my officers or myself who canceled the operation. It is true that Clarke was bad-mouthing it. What I don't think people know, however, is that the Agency had thoroughly reviewed the plan and had approved its execution at the highest level -- that is, at the level of DCI Tenet and his immediate subordinates. (NB: At Tenet's direction, JSOC commanders at Fort Bragg also reviewed the plan. They approved it, said they could not do better, and built two sand-table mock-ups of the bin Laden's compound for us to use in preparing the operation.) My officers and I were told that the plan had been sent to Clarke and the NSC for approval. The next thing we knew, the Chief of CT at CIA told us that the plan had been canceled because civilians might get killed, there was not a hundred percent chance that we would get bin Laden, and that if bin Laden was killed in the capture effort the CIA might get accused of assassination. The implication to us at the time was that the NSC canceled the operation, but Tenet later claimed he did it himself. I don't know what the full truth is on this issue. Interestingly, after our east Africa embassies were bombed on 7 August 98, Clarke ordered us to immediately revive the capture plan, but of course by then the chance had been well and truly lost."

- Michael F. Scheuer, a 22-year veteran with the CIA, created and served as the chief of the agency's Osama bin Laden unit at the Counterterrorist Center.

I agree with you

I don't like Docudrama where they are made up conversations no matter what side of the isle

There are plenty of documented facts against Clinton and his cohorts to go with a Documentary . They could interview Buzz Paterson for instance

Once the general public hears the conversations are made up that will turn them off

Whoa now big fella. We all have short comings but if it's the truth then show it and let us make up our own minds. Clinton and his cronies had more than one chance to get Bin Laden and they blew it because he was too busy with Monica in the cloak room.
