The Truth about Bill Clinton and Terrorism (FR Compilation Thread)
Free Republic ^ | September 8, 2006 | Various Sources

Posted on 09/08/2006 9:58:02 AM PDT by Howlin

Lopez: In sum, how many times did Bill Clinton lose bin Laden?

Miniter: Here's a rundown. The Clinton administration:

1. Did not follow-up on the attempted bombing of Aden marines in Yemen.

2. Shut the CIA out of the 1993 WTC bombing investigation, hamstringing their effort to capture bin Laden.

3. Had Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, a key bin Laden lieutenant, slip through their fingers in Qatar.

4. Did not militarily react to the al Qaeda bombing in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

5. Did not accept the Sudanese offer to turn bin Laden.

6. Did not follow-up on another offer from Sudan through a private back channel.

7. Objected to Northern Alliance efforts to assassinate bin Laden in Afghanistan.

8. Decided against using special forces to take down bin Laden in Afghanistan.

9. Did not take an opportunity to take into custody two al Qaeda operatives involved in the East African embassy bombings. In another little scoop, I am able to show that Sudan arrested these two terrorists and offered them to the FBI. The Clinton administration declined to pick them up and they were later allowed to return to Pakistan.

10. Ordered an ineffectual, token missile strike against a Sudanese pharmaceutical factory.

11. Clumsily tipped off Pakistani officials sympathetic to bin Laden before a planned missile strike against bin Laden on August 20, 1998. Bin Laden left the camp with only minutes to spare.

12-14. Three times, Clinton hesitated or deferred in ordering missile strikes against bin Laden in 1999 and 2000.

15. When they finally launched and armed the Predator spy drone plane, which captured amazing live video images of bin Laden, the Clinton administration no longer had military assets in place to strike the archterrorist.

16. Did not order a retaliatory strike on bin Laden for the murderous attack on the USS Cole.

Not a bad effort at rewriting history on his part, actually. Nice try.

As a professional liar and conartist--he is second to none.

He can make comments like that because:
(1) He is an accomplished liar,
2. He has no conscience, and
3. He has no shame.

I called the RNC and told MacRanger on his blog. The RNC was shocked, not sure what they can do about it.

Mac responded to me on the blog and said:

Pretty shabby, and they’re opening themselves to a lawsuit for cyber squatting. A law was passed a while back that made it illegal to register trademarked names.

Passed it on ABC thanks.

THANKS MUCH.

Sandy Burgler is a liar; traitor; scumbag; Machiavellian deceiver; satanic, demonic enabler; dispicable bit of human garbage and all around otherwise worthless creature, imho.

In other words, i don't think much of the destructor-of-the-Republic. Since he has such an obsession with stuffing secret archives in his shorts . . . may he stuff a black widow or scorpion in his haste sometime. Might at least sober him up slightly about his treason and burglering.

These idiots with this ABC thing are REALLLLLLLLLLLLLY HIDEOUS. REALLLLLLLLLLLLLY ANNOYS ME.

Thanks for a great patriotic job against it, Howlin. Great to know there's folks like you on the job.

Thank you for posting this!

I got a smarmy email from a Leftist business associate claiming that Bubba was actually tougher on terrorism than Bush.

Thank you again for the ammo. I can not wait to return fire.

Al Qaeda absent from final Clinton report
By James G. Lakely
THE WASHINGTON TIMES
Published April 6, 2004

The final policy paper on national security that President Clinton submitted to Congress -- 45,000 words long -- makes no mention of al Qaeda and refers to Osama bin Laden by name just four times.
The scarce references to bin Laden and his terror network undercut claims by former White House terrorism analyst Richard A. Clarke that the Clinton administration considered al Qaeda an "urgent" threat, while President Bush's national security adviser, Condoleezza Rice, "ignored" it.
The Clinton document, titled "A National Security Strategy for a Global Age," is dated December 2000 and is the final official assessment of national security policy and strategy by the Clinton team. The document is publicly available, though no U.S. media outlets have examined it in the context of Mr. Clarke's testimony and new book.

Berger's denial rings hollow, doesn't it. There are too many others who know what he did. Besides, he's a convicted felon...one who stole classified documents and failed to return the pertinent ones that presumably contained evidence of Clinton's perfidy.

I hate them all...never knew I was capable of so much hatred until now, and I hate them for making me feel such hate.

(snip)

Afghanistan remains a serious threat to U.S. worldwide interests because of the Taliban's continued sheltering of international terrorists and its increasing export of illicit drugs. Afghanistan remains the primary safehaven for terrorists threatening the United States, including Usama bin Ladin. The United Nations and the United States have levied sanctions against the Taliban for harboring Usama bin Ladin and other terrorists, and will continue to pressure the Taliban until it complies with international requests to bring bin Ladin to justice. The United States remains concerned about those countries, including Pakistan, that support the Taliban and allow it to continue to harbor such radical elements. We are engaged in energetic diplomatic efforts, including through the United Nations and with Russia and other concerned countries, to address these concerns on an urgent basis.

Yes, I agree this is great stuff, dynamite in fact! But if I gave this to some Bush-hating and Clinton-loving members of my family, they would merely shrug their shoulders and probably say it was a bunch of lies.

If I insisted too vigorously that they read it, all hell would break loose.

THAT's the depth of the Bush Derangement Syndrome they suffer from.

The first blatant terrorist attack on US, and he never even had the decency to go there to highlight our risks in the new normal (as he obviously was aware) or show concern or respect. SPEAKS VOLUMES.

The Dems would have been smart to have let this ABC broadcast go by without comment, because now all their complaining has raised the question of just what did the Clinton Admin. do in the years leading up to 9/11.

BTW, this is another example of the negligence of the MSM. If was a reporter and there'd been a Democrat congresswoman screaming into my microphone about how this film is a digusting re-writing of history, as I heard on a radio report last night, I would have asked 1) have you seen the film, and 2) how, specifically, did the film distort the record?

“Aside from scandals and investigations, [former FBI Director Louis] Freeh says Clinton let down the American people and the families of victims of the 1996 Khobar Towers terror attack in Saudi Arabia.

“After promising to bring to justice those responsible for the bombing that killed 19 and injured hundreds, Freeh says Clinton refused to personally ask Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah to allow the FBI to question bombing suspects the kingdom had in custody — the only way the bureau could secure the interviews, according to Freeh.

“Freeh writes in the book [My FBI], 'Bill Clinton raised the subject only to tell the crown prince that he understood the Saudis’ reluctance to cooperate and then he hit Abdullah up for a contribution to the Clinton Presidential Library.' ” -- 60 Minutes, Oct. 6, 2005

Interview On Orange TV  7-15-2003:

Rep. Dana Rohrabacher: "We didn't need to have 9-11.  9-11 happened because during the last administration Mr. Clinton didn't do his job.  I was just talking to an ambassador from Sudan who tried to give us all of the records on bin Laden.  He had all of the details of the entire terrorist network, and Madeleine Albright and Bill Clinton personally turned it down -- wouldn't even let the FBI copy them!"

Rep. Tom Feeney:  "In fairness, they were busy building nuclear plants for North Korea."

Rep. Rohrabacher:  "Right.  Precisely."

"Remember, Osama Bin Laden was offered to the United States on a silver platter and the Clinton administration said no." -- Neal Boortz, 3-2-2004 HERE   and: "A former CIA official told NBC News last week that [Clinton] White House orders to spare Bin Laden's life cut the chances of getting him in half.  Once again, they viewed terrorism as a law enforcement problem, worrying about Bin Laden's rights instead of just unleashing the CIA to exterminate  him." -- Boortz, 3-25-2004 HERE
"I've been to Sudan. And I was in Khartoum and met with some of the higher- ranking people with the Sudanese government. They told me personally -- I had heard that before -- that they actually offered [him] up to the Clinton administration  -- that is, Osama bin Laden -- if they wanted him." -- Sen. Richard Shelby of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence to Chris Matthews 7-22-2004
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self- preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation.  To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property, and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."
-- Thomas Jefferson to John Colvin, 1810
"... when you see a rattlesnake poised to strike, you do not wait until he has struck before you crush him."-- FDR

"At the time, 1996, [bin Laden] had committed no crime against America so I did not bring him here because we had no basis on which to hold him, though we knew he wanted to commit crimes against America." -- W.J. Clinton as quoted by Mansoor Ijaz in an editorial in the Los Angeles Times Dec 5, 2001

Peter M. Leitner, a senior strategic trade adviser at the Defense Department ... says the previous [Clinton] administration rubber-stamped the shipment of top-end military-related telecommunications equipment to Syria, which is on the FBI's list of sensitive countries that pose a threat to U.S. security. ... 'We're giving them spread-spectrum radios, which are almost impossible to break into. We're giving them fiber optics. We're giving them a high level of encryption. We're giving them computer networks that can't be tapped,' Leitner said.  ... Leitner posits that the NSA wasn't able to detect the Islamic terrorists' plot because of the 'high quality of the communications gear that they've been acquiring over the last couple of years, thanks to the Clinton administration's decontrols on advanced telecommunications equipment.' " -- Paul Sperry, Sept. 12, 2001
"No president did more to ignore the mounting threat of Islamic terrorism than did Bill Clinton, and 3,000 people paid for his policies with their lives."
-- Neal Boortz, 8-10-2005
