WASHINGTON — The Senate on Wednesday rejected a move by Democrats to stop the Pentagon from using cluster bombs near civilian targets and to cut off sales unless purchasers abide by the same rules.

Democratic Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Patrick Leahy have long sought to keep cluster bombs from being used near concentrated areas of civilians. They say that as many as 40 percent of the munitions fail to detonate on impact — they can still can explode later — leaving innocent civilians and children vulnerable to injury or death long after hostilities have ceased.

Milhous, that story is boulderdash. The FDA cannot arbitrarily take a person's property. There are incredible regulations that prevent it, as well as external and interal oversight. In order for a company to subvert the FDA to do such a thing, that company would have to put half it's annual income into bribing a lot of people. People who 1. do not spend enough time in one position to keep it silent, and 2. people who have pensions and other financial benefits far greater than any bribe could be...oh, and 3, the worst that an FDA official would dois, like any other government employee, put something off from getting approval simply because they "worked enough for today."

I feel the way Clarke does--I am proud of being a liberal and not a fascist republican right winger Bush has done nothing for this country except bring it down hill-in a war where thousands of young people have been killed ours and Iraqis. They didn't make the movie they got 30 million from the right wing to show it without commercials--look up the facts. Bush can't accept any responsibility for anything--didn't he say bin laden isn't important any more??? It happened on his watch and don't forget that--Listen to 940 a.m. and you will get some straight answers--you're voting against yourself when y ou vote the right wing unless you are making $300,000/year. They don't do anything for you--look at the state of the country. It's close to the elections and that is why they are putting this on because they know the are in trouble. Oh they are tweaking the movine just the way they tweaked the movie about Ronald Reagan, when all those right-wingers didn't like what that docu-drama had to say about him. Look--don't believe everything you see or hear--it's all spin--on both sides. We have to get the facts about everything--think it out for ourselves--then take a stand. When I hear Rush LImbaugh's name I cannot believe anything and I know he is behind this docu-drama (not documentary)
