According to ABC News, officials there have granted bin Laden amnesty. As long as he leads a “peaceful life,” bin Laden can remain free in Pakistan, said Maj. Gen. Shaukat Sultan Khan.

Reuters confirms that the Pakistani military has agreed to pull out of the tribal region along the Afghan border where bin Laden is believed to have found sanctuary. In exchange, al-Qaida and the Taliban reportedly have agreed to stop attacking military outposts reluctantly set up in response to heavy pressure from the White House.

The Pakistani army is also returning captured Taliban weapons and prisoners and dismantling newly built checkposts. Reuters observed a Pakistani army commander, Maj. Gen. Azhar Ali Shah, hugging militants after the pact was inked.

Definitely not good news and especially so with NATO asking for more troops.

DOes anyone really think Wacky Paki was ever going to hunt, find, arrest, and turn over Bin Laden (assuming he's still alive which I don't think he is)?

Besides, he's just a figure head. Killing him doesn't alter how the terrorist operate. TOo many are ignorant to think that killing him means the end of our problems. It's not. One man doesn't run the show. We need to kill as many of these bastards as we can like they are fruit flies in your kitchen. They have only one thing on their mind and that is to kill us. Better to deliver them to hell in a hand basket by our own bullets and bombs than have them do it to us.

Sad to say, we won't because we live in a screwed up PC world where a war is being dictated by our media and the terrorists are taking advantage of it.

My question is: is the one million dollar bounty still out on Bin Laden? If it is, then that scum-bag will still be looking over his shoulder for the rest of his life. Government help or no, the reward should stay in place until Osama-Bin-Scumbag is locked up or dead. As long as the reward is out there, then the hunt is still on.

The 'tribal areas' of Pakistan are not under the central authority of Pakistan, nor have they ever been. Alexander the Great couldn't conquer those areas, and he tried. They have never recognized any authority other than their own.

As far as JBL finding the area a safe haven; the concept of granting sanctuary and hospitality to anyone as long as they live a peaceful life while within their area is a concept that has been extant in that area since well before Islam. Or Christ, for that matter. Probably before Moses.

Since the Paki's wont do anything and since invading Paki in impossible politicly, I think giving UBL amnesty is a great idea.
Get him nice and comfortable, remove the bounty, let him come out of his hole, then drop a 2000lbs bomb on his head!

This is not justice for the 9/11 victims. Pakistan is a poor ally if not an actual enemy. They are also weapon proliferators.

Merely for Western consumption ~ Pakistan has never been our "ally" in the WOT ~

For more on Pakistan's treachery - I have several posts on this matter including Pakistan's assistance to Iran nuclear program by supplying them with equipment and in the last few months highly enriched uranium to build their first of five weapons
