(St. Paul) – The Pawlenty for Governor campaign announced today that it would foregotaxpayer funding for the campaign.

“One individual from Manhattan with essentially unlimited funds has already contributedmore than $600,000 to defeat Governor Pawlenty and promote a very liberal, pro-taxagenda,” said campaign manager Michael Krueger. He also indicated individuals andgroups with ties to Mike Hatch have given large sums to another such group, ‘Minnesotansfor Change.’ “We have no choice but to forego public financing to fight for our agenda ofholding government accountable,” Krueger said. Krueger was referencing $625,000 incontributions from Alida Messinger of 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York to “Alliance for aBetter Minnesota” – a group solely focused on defeating Governor Pawlenty.

“The real story this year in Minnesota will not be how much Tim Pawlenty and Mike Hatchspend, it will be how much Mike Hatch’s allies spend on their smear campaign” Kruegersaid.

“Just this week, ‘Minnesotans for Change’ purchased almost $800,000 in television air timeand ‘Alliance for a Better Minnesota’ began airing a very negative ad. This decision allowsus to remain competitive against the onslaught of spending from liberal special interestgroups.”

Ping.

I'm still voting for Jeffers in the primary (if I'm back in town by then). Pawlenty could use a good scare.

Here's where all of that money is flowing into the demo/socialists coffers from. For the life of me I will never understand the guilt that drives these trust fund babies to attack the system that allowed them all of privleges one could want and the time to devote to the destruction of same system.

Alida Rockefeller Messinger (born 1948) is the fourth child of John D. Rockefeller III and his wife Blanchette Hooker Rockefeller. Messinger is a sister of Democratic West Virginia Senator John D. Rockefeller IV.

Messinger is well-known as a philanthropist and is a major donor to conservation and environmental organizations. Messinger's Alida R. Messinger Charitable Trust also funds conservation and environmental groups as does the Rockefeller Family Fund of which she is a trustee. Messinger also contributes financially to the Center for Public Integrity.

Thanks for the ping to this article. Just got back from the long holiday weekend and prepping for back to school tomorrow.

I'm torn on the primary. I'm not real happy with a few of the things he's done. Overall, I think Tim's done a great job considering this is a Fever Swamp dominated state.

Spanking him in public doesn't seem like a good move to me. You just know the Red Star will have a field day with it (Republicans DIVIDED, etc.) and it just might demoralize some people that don't pay as close attention as we do. I want a big turnout on the R side, because I certainly don't want a governor Hatch.

Well, they won't let me get close enough to him to spank him in private and that's not really my thing anyway, so public will have to do. The Star and Sickle will spin any outcome as dire for the R's and I disagree that bad news suppresses voter outcome. I think if it looks like a fight, more voters will feel that their votes mean something, causing a larger turnout.

It's a nice way to let the party know what I think, and it'll amuse me greatly if Sue wins the primary. After all, I'm a Republican because I'm conservative, not the other way around.
