The U.N. can't possibly stop Iran.

Sunday, September 3, 2006 12:01 a.m.

Despite last week's United Nations deadline for Iran to give up its nuclear bomb program, Iran has done no such thing. The next diplomatic move is supposed to be for the U.N. to impose sanctions on Iran. That won't work, either.

Good read. It's clear to most reasonable folks that the UN simply does not have the ability deal with Iran...

I don't believe that the U.N. even wants to stop Iran from getting the bomb.

Just do what is suggested in Canadian newspapers, Nuke Iran. It will save more lives of Americans and other westerners than will the resulting loss of civillian life in Iran if we don't.

The U.N. cannot wipe it own nose. Or butt. Worthless expensive group. That real estate where the U.N. sits is worth a bunch of bucks. Kick them out.

When you get right down to it, the UN is a sort of fiction-- a let's pretend world where cynical bureaucrats, demogogues, crooks and vandals from the far rat-holes of the world play out their sordid dramas for self-enrichment and the benefit of the folks stagnating in the backwaters of their home countries. But none of it is real. It could be said of the UN, as Gertrude Stein once said of Oakland, "there is no there there."

Not only can the UN not deal with Iran, I seriously doubt they could unstop a plugged up toilet.

The UN cannot stop Iran, It doesnt want to stop Iran, I dont believe Kofi Annan is a Christian he must be Islamic.

Whatever his religion he is as anti-semitic as Ahmadinejhad.

If Iran is stopped it will probably be from Israel or the US ,and whichever it is that country will be condemned by the UN.

Its time we condemned the building the UN is in tore the place down and forced them to find a new home where they belong. Probably in the Netherlands which is rapidly turning Islamic, where they want to legalise pedophiles and bestiality, and where Annans swedish wife would be happy amomng her own people.

This is shaping up a LOT like the rationale that finally led to action against Saddam Hussein in Iraq. The US finally went in with a "coalition of the willing" to enforce the stack of UN resolutions (a fact that conveniently escapes most of Bush's critics).

Evidently, Iran and its theocracy did not learn from this example lying right next door. Worse, they do not appreciate the very real leverage the US ALREADY has in being able to intercept anything they attempt to throw at Israel, and the ease of retaliation if they attempt such a suicidal course.

On the surface, few thing would make me as happy if we would get out of te UN. On the other hand, a UN without the presence of the United States may actually be worse without us there to keep them in check and keep tabs on them. A UN without the US would mean that anything and everything the US did from that point on would be blasted as acting unilaterally and the US would be painted even more negative than it is now. All nations (or a significant portion) need to realize the worthlessness of the UN, have the cajones to speak up, and tell them

Don't need to when Kofi is running the show.
