The Path to 9/11 [Variety's 'yawn' review]
Variety ^ | Sept. 3, 2006 | By BRIAN LOWRY

Perhaps unavoidably, ABC's "The Path to 9/11" plays like a compendium of movies and documentaries surrounding that fateful day -- a pinch of "United 93" here, a dollop of "World Trade Center" there. Derived in part from the 9/11 Commission report, this five-hour presentation is earnest but scattered and a little plodding, with the most powerful aspect involving John O'Neill, the terrorism expert slain in the attack, strongly played by Harvey Keitel. Although NBC cleared ABC's path by scrubbing its own planned 9/11 miniseries, it's still a trail littered with the host of productions that preceded it.

Indeed, the sheer glut of 9/11-related programming during the run-up to the fifth anniversary has risked trivializing those events -- as if this were Valentine's Day or Halloween, triggering all those themed episodes that networks trot out. Judged strictly on its merits, "Path to 9/11" -- drawn from several books as well as the commission report, with co-chairman Thomas H. Kean onboard as a producer-consultant -- is certainly ambitious, chronologically bracketed by the two assaults on the World Trade Center in 1993 and 2001.

First it was “too soon”... now it's “too much”. I think Brian would rather have had 9/11's memory stricken from the books altogether.

Translation: This show puts blame where blame is due, therefore it sucks.

He'd want to leave in the parts about the Conspiracy by Bush to create a war.

Seems like Brian the homo is upset that they didn't cut out Clinton's refusal to take out Bin Laden from the script.

Variety seems to be trying to vilify the miniseries. Could it have anything to do with the Clintonites having a fit? Could it have anything to do with ole x42 personally calling ABC and requesting they edit or cancel it?

Is Variety trying to play it down to help out ole x42?

===

Bets are still taking place with odds on favorite that ABC will either cancel or edit.

Time will tell.

"Not surprisingly, the overall tone is grim, and the fact there's no suspense regarding the near misses and foiled chances to nail "the Tall One," as bin Laden is called, isn't particularly conducive to constructing a thriller."

The queers in Hollyweird are really angry that Clinton wasn't cut from the movie.

"Richard Clarke (Stephen Root), who exhibits mounting frustration as President Clinton's administration zippers problems"

Hmmm....

"Not surprisingly, the overall tone is grim..."

There's an insight. How many years of journalism school helped produce that profundity?

The reference to John O'Neill as a... 'Chicken-Little'... was especially odious and offensive.

The feeling of pre-WW II and an approaching modern day Pearl Harbor is errie and haunting.

Bill Clinton, the enabler and causer of 911, and the murderer of American innocents. As I have said for many years, the truth always opts, sometimes sooner and sometimes later. Every American should watch, unless Clinton works his vile way, and ABC Executives edit the presentation. How this guy can live with himself is beyond me. As for any Democrat, they are just as guilty as Billy Boy. You folks out there better wise up or it will be your children being slaughtered shortly. The Democrat party does not care about children. They kill them before they are born, or they just don't bother to have any, the self-centered ego-maniac low lifes that they are.

O'Neill's fellow Chicken Little is security adviser Richard Clarke (Stephen Root), who exhibits mounting frustration as President Clinton's administration zippers problems and the Bush regime assume a maddeningly indifferent posture toward the threat.

Stephen Root! Perfect casting as Richard Clark. He played Milton in Office Space!

But .. the drive-by was all excited about rehashing Katrina .. from one year ago .. and it wasn't too soon or too much .. films, hearings, etc.

Their hypocrisy continues to tell on their motives.

President Clinton has an administration while Bush has a regime. No bias there.

It's probably so seared into his walnut-sized brain that he didn't even notice the slight. These people are like zombies... empty pods of foul-smelling hate.
