The drive-by media made a mountain out of molehill concerning the "macaca" issue, but between this, and questions concerning Senator Allen's conservative credentials, is he now to be considered "damaged goods"?

is he now to be considered "damaged goods"?This is politics. If Allen can be taken out this early, he will be, because his enemies have no reason NOT to--would we go easy on a democrat if this kind of thing were in his past? No, nor should we.
If he can beat back this crap, he'll be in good shape. If not, why would we want him for a nominee?

May backfire as his name recognition increases.

The uproar is itself a steaming pile of macaca. But it does appear he ain't too bright. Good man, bad judgment, trips over his words. We don't need another one.

I know, I know. The "D" gives Byrd an immunity from his past. The SPLC is shameless.

Allen was always considered "damaged goods" by those concerned with his mother's Jewish ancestry. That's why his opposition are so outright nasty with their attack over nothing.
This current affair certainly puts the last nail in the coffin of the idea that his opponent, Obergrupenfuhrer Webb, was not the author of the antisemitic attack on his Democrat competitor in the primary this Summer.
This is going to get dirtier.

The media is a tool (Dean's roar). The people that want someone out of the picture just have to drop a dime and it is on.

Only a decade ago, as governor of Virginia, Allen personally initiated an association with the Council of Conservative Citizens, the successor organization to the segregationist White Citizens Council and among the largest white supremacist groups.I await The Nation's call for Democrats to disassociate themselves from their Black Panther connnections in the past. No, I'm not holding my breath.

If not, why would we want him for a nominee? The social conservatives have raised questions on Allen's pro-life credentials. He proudly owns stock in Barr Pharmeceuticals, the maker of the "Plan B" emergency contraception, and he has made questionable statements on the pro-life issue in the past.

$1.00 U.S. says this photo was taken in a reception line at the NRA event for high dollar contributors and others who bought tickets at CPAC and that Allen and Heston had no idea who any of these guys were.

You raise a fair question, but I have no doubt the left will make a lame attempt to rationalize the lionization of the ex-Klansman Byrd with, "but he's not running for president!!!"
Yet, they have no problem with him being senator. Their hypocrisy is astonishing.

Macacca means nothing. Macaque is a primate.
To: Pyro7480
The Nation continues to wallow in the Macaca. I say let them. And every time they bring up this issue with Allen, all we have to do is make them read the following:
"Sounds like ol' Macaca needs to get his butt to Hymie-town and talk to some f***ing Jew bastard lawyers to see what his options are. If he strikes out there, he could always run a gas station or a 7-11. But then again, everyone always knew he was nothing but a white n*gg*r."
Pop quiz: Point out all the racially insensitive remarks above.
Extra credit: Tell us which public figure said them and their party affiliation.
Moral of the story: Remarks that are perceived to be racially insensitive only count when Republicans say them.
