After much speculation, a staffer to Sen. Ted Stevens, R-Alaska, admitted to Cox Newspapers today that the senator is the lawmaker who placed a secret hold on legislation that would open up the obscure world of government contracting to public scrutiny.
Until now, it was a political whodunnit as to who quietly blocked legislation introduced by Sens. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., and Barack Obama, D-Ill., that would create a searchable database of government contracts, grants, insurance, loans and financial assistance, worth $2.5 trillion last year.

Can't wait to see the database and wonder how of it will be 'redacted'.
Or is this just an election year stunt?
Coburn is a pitbull. Stevens, need to find a new career "...to nowhere."
This guy has a serious case of "old man syndrome".
Some good boys simply grow up to become angry old men.
Bad sex, no sex, something goes very wrong when this kind of things comes out of member of the republican party.
If true - we have to smoke this guy out and blast his ass.
I LOVE Coburn!!

Revenge Of The Tubes!
This Ted Stevens character is nothing but a white-collar thief. The Republicans should have taken him up on his offer to quit and said "don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out."
OH PLEASE!!!! It was obvious to anyone who knows anything about the Senate that Stevens was the one with the hold on the bill... its a non-story.
What's wrong with that picture?
Oh good grief...this is public info already.
Just check the "Awards" box and do a search on any term you want. It is mandatory that all contracts be listed there. I can't believe how ignorant the Congressmen are on this subject.

These guys are unbelievable.
which guys - freedom works or the senate?
armey needs to move to alaska and run against stevens (despite what he told phil gramm about running for the senate)
Check the "Awards" box and do a search on any term you want. Or you can search awards by Dept. All Federal Agencies are required to use that system, it cannot be "redacted". As I stated in a post above, I can't believe the Congressmen are so ignorant on this matter.
I used to look at the CBD to see what was up in my neck of the woods (I worked at a PTAC) but haven't bothered for some time.
Thanks for the link - does it include grants?
Disgusting
