Inside this building, a terror suspect ran a London university's Islamic group.

At a glance, the two ramshackle, portable buildings tucked away on a north London side street look entirely inconspicuous. Only the heavy steel gates, chained and padlocked, hint that their contents are not intended for prying eyes.

Behind the gates lie the headquarters of the London Metropolitan University Islamic Society. The president of the society, Waheed Zaman, a 22-year-old biochemistry student from Walthamstow, east London, was arrested last week in connection with the alleged plot to blow up passenger aircraft taking off from Britain, together with several of his former schoolmates and university-age associates.

The temporary buildings, which consist of two prayer rooms and a "library", are used as both an office and place of worship. But among the microwave oven, plastic cups, jars of instant coffee and student detritus that fill the prayer rooms are bookshelves and drawers strewn with inflammatory material.

Inside the buildings on Hornsey Road, The Sunday Telegraph uncovered extremist literature advocating a "jihad". One folder contained three pages on the merits of jihad, including instructions printed from the internet outlining the commandments of "Allah's Apostle", together with a handwritten footnote. The printed instruction reads: "Allah guarantees the person who carries out Jihad in His Cause… that He will either admit him into Paradise (Martyrdom) or return him with reward or booty." The note below read: "Jihad means to strive. This can be any kind of striving in the way of God which involves either spiritual or personal effort, material resources or arms. Jihad is also used to refer to a war waged by the Muslims for the advancement of Islam."

Was it also a recruiting ground for 'holy war'?

Of course!

"Behind the gates lie the headquarters of the London Metropolitan University Islamic Society."

There is a building--actually a compound, with several buildings--that goes by the same name in Norman Oklahoma, where a student (who we believe to be a convert to Islam) blew himself up, although he failed at what was likely the larger target--packed stands at an OU football game. It ended up being called a suicide, but there was lots of evidence that this was not the case.

By the way--the explosives used? Same as with the London group.

What they are reporting today is that the danger is far from over in the UK. Why we wonder?? Well, these Islamic Terrorist MUSLIMS, are there in force, not as British, but as MUSLIM. They better start locking up, deporting or killing...take your pick. You cannot live anywhere with people who openly say their main dream in life is to take you and your children out. THese people think nothing of strapping bombs to the vests on their children and sending them into the marketplace. This is the face of evil.

I have a fence around my property. I make the decisions as to who enters my property or not. If someone enters uninvited, I ask them to leave. If they don't leave, I force them to do so. I never invite or allow people who are taught to hate or exploit me to enter my property.

If my neighbors have been overtaken by bad people who are threatening me, I'll try to save them and protect myself. If my neighbors invite or allow bad people onto their property who threaten me, well, I'll kill them all.

I wish my gov't would treat my country the way I treat my property.

For those who are unfamiliar with the OU (Norman) bombing case, there's a pretty good rundown of it here. It also has a great map showing the close proximity of the Islamic Society, the suicider Hinrich's apartment, and OU.

Stupidity in fellow citizens is tolerable, perhaps even necessary. Stupidity in leadership and law enforcement is not.

The number of people from both groups who maintain and insist that "law" is an end in itself is frightening.
No, Law is a means to an end. If that end is frustrated, the law is both meaningless and immoral. It's that simple.

The "ends" of laws is a safe society; the greatest good for the greatest number.

Setting aside the inevitable moral and legal corruption of politicians (an entirely different subject), when the laws have an effect opposite of their intent, it is time for swift and profound change. Do these words sound familiar?

Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security. —

"A seven-page newsletter, without a title or named publisher, attacked freedom of speech as "undeniably one of the most central deviated forms of moral decline that non-believers have developed...."

"The London Metropolitan University has declined to comment. However, last year Roderick Floud, the president of the university, which was created in 2002 by the merger of two former polytechnics and where half the intake is non-white, said: "Freedom of speech is not only a feature of democracy but also enshrined in the statutes of all universities."

Taken together, these two excerpts dramatically display how Muslims (like the communists before them) exploit for their purposes features of a free society in which they do not believe, and which they would instantly destroy if they attained power.

The monuments in Washington and across the country were erected to honor leaders who did treat our country the way we treat our property.

Another interesting detail:

"It [the Islamic Society] is jointly funded by the university and society members."

Our Western institutions have been conned by the Left into subsidizing the destruction of our own society and culture! The Left does not mind, because it shares with Islam the desire to destroy Western free society; it differs only in the replacement for that society.

No conservative should send his children to any school where Muslim groups, gay rights groups, "peace activists," feminist radicals, and such organizations flourish. Forget about sentimental alumni connections, academic reputations, and the like. Most schools are nothing like what they were in "your day." Do not support such institutions in any way, direct or indirect.

Thanks for the ping. I've been trying to follow all this myself. I immediately thought of PhiKapMom's experience in the stadium at OU, when I heard of the cell outage in Queens last week.

"No conservative should send his children to any school where Muslim groups, gay rights groups, "peace activists," feminist radicals, and such organizations flourish."

That basically rules out all British Universities then.

The funding thing that you quote ("It [the Islamic Society] is jointly funded by the university and society members.") is fairly standard by the way. I seem to remember from my Uni days that you could basically set up a society for anything, register it and get enough members and the University would bung you some cash.
