Q-PAC Poll Shows Narrowing Lamont Lead
Hotline on Call ^ | August 7, 2006

Posted on 08/07/2006 5:48:12 AM PDT by PDR

Sen. Joe Lieberman (D-CT) cut into challenger Ned Lamont's (D) lead the day before Connecticut's Democratic primary, according to a new Quinnipiac poll. The poll shows Lamont ahead of Lieberman, 51% to 45%. The why is fairly simple: Lieberman had a fairly good weekend of news coverage; virtually every Democratic voter in the state is paying attention.

By attention, we mean that they are mentally projecting themselves into the voting booths, which can have a tempering effect on their energy and passion.

BTW: QPAC appears to be tracking; their sample is from interviews with 784 likely voters over six days.

A few other items:

We've heard solidly conflicting information on whether Lieberman's independent signature bid has been successful. Several sources who have spoken directly to those involved in the effort insist that the campaign is now sitting on the necessary signatures. But at least one person who has access to the upper echelons of Lieberman's campaign insists that the opposite is true.

Whatever the case, Democrats in Washington and Connecticut who have spoken with Lieberman and his top aides believe that unless the election tomorrow night is tantalizingly close (or Lieberman wins, obviously), he is far less inclined to mount an independent bid than he once was.

Remember the lesson of How-weird Dean in Iowa. A large portion of the young and stupid that bought the radical agenda failed to materialize when it actually counted. The sad part is it yielded Kerry.

This whole thing is turning into a nightmare for the Liberals:

On the one hand, the moonbat-wing Bash-Bush extremists don't like moderates at all in their party, which leaves the Hildabeast's 2008 nomination in limbo with her phoney "Centrist" attempt.

On the other hand, if Lieberman is defeated in the Primary, then he will run as an Independent, and then win, and the Dim's will technically lose a seat in the Senate, and dash their hopes of a potential Senate majority in November....

Is there a possibility that an independent run by Joe could eventually hand the seat to a Republican, ala Ross Perot?.......

No, Howard Dean as the RAT nominee would have been the gift. Kerry came too damn close for comfort. We owe the SBVfT a HUGE debt.

That's the truth! If it hadn't been for them, can you imagine? They saved America.

What's the weather report for primary day? If it's lousy maybe the kook fringe won't show up.

LOL! Don't get the DUmmies started.

Unless Lieberman is gain ground at breakneck speed, I think this will be too little too late.

IMHO, Lieberman will pull it out. Many "Polls" are just news stories for the LSM. As we move closer to real elections, pollsters have to be more accurate, less they be shown as the frauds they are. So Lieberman "has a good weekend" and "recovers". Just like the GOP will "recover" in time to hold Congress. Summer polls are just a way Dem pundits can wax wistfully and aggravate all of us who worry the DemWits could actually win. We'll see Tuesday and in November.

Good point. You may be right. My position assumes some type of honesty in the MSM reporting. Silly me.
