NewsBusters ^ | August 7, 2006 | Noel Sheppard

Something amazing happened on ABC’s “This Week” Sunday: Cokie Roberts practically floored host George Stephanopoulos with the political truth that most impartial individuals already know (video to follow). The discussion centered on what it would mean for the Democratic Party if Ned Lamont beat Joe Lieberman in Connecticut next week. Stephanopoulos asked Roberts, “How did this happen?” After a somewhat lengthy explanation, Roberts said, “But it's, I think, a disaster for the Democratic Party, and it's going to be very interesting to see what happens as a result of it.”

BY throwing out reasonably sane conservative demokratz, their party will become the party of Soros-Moore-Sheehan Moonbats. They can never ever find their way to the middle because it will have basically disappeared from their horizon............

he [ Bill Clinton] was a Democrat in the middle from the south with a very strong acquaintanceship with scripture.

I think Cokie's acquaintanceship with reality is tenuous...

Here's an interesting quote from Cokie Roberts.

She's old enough to remember Scoop and Moynihan:)

On the contrary, I don't find anything incorrect in her statement. After all, even Satan was well-versed in scripture.

Unfortunately, there is a pretty substantial population that will vote "Soros-Sheehan-Moore." Enough, possibly, to take the House and Senate, this fall.
Historians will look back at this era and be amazed by our insanity.

Cokie is a Louisianna girl; she knows that what plays in
Commi/Connecticut won't play across the vast majority of this nation. Cokie knows that anti-war, peaceniks only play to the Northeast audiences and pockets of urban centers. Again, the Democrats fail to understand mainstream America. The ouster of Lieberman is only the beginning of their defeats in November.

Well, you have a point. I guess "acquaintanceship" is the right word, after all.

My fearless prediction: Lieberman wins a squeaker tomorrow.

I always find it strange that the liberals like Stepanopoulos are not shocked by the truth of what someone is saying as much as that they are saying it....and saying it on his show.

I hope you're right. More for the sake of embarrassing the Krazy Kos Kidz than anything else.

Pass the Geritol, M'am, and be sure to spike it with a little bourbon...

I certainly recall the Cokester from the days I got my news from the TV ( ~shudder!~ ) and she wasn't too wacky back then. She and husband Steve are certainly old hands at the DC scene.

Did Perot ever harp on Bush 41 raising taxes, and that is what pulled people away from Bush 41 to perot? Looking at the analysis on why Bill Clinton got a plurality when it was all said and done, was this the primary reason?

"Lieberman wins a squeaker tomorrow."

How? By losing?

I agree. Stephie Boy appeared to be in defensive mode, rather than shock mode. He wanted to difuse any talk of a pending disaster for the Dems.

My guess is if Lieberman loses, Bush will tap him for a cabinet secretary slot.

I heard yesterday, can't remember where -- probably FNC, that lots of new people were registering for the Dem primary. What I'm wondering is, who are these people? Are they lefties who are voting for the first time, or are they Republicans joining up to vote for Lieberman?

They're KOS people.

The same group who wore those orange hats for Dean.

IMHO same result.
