McKinney, Johnson face off in televised debate

ATLANTA - Nearly a month ago, Rep. Cynthia McKinney's podium twice sat empty as her two opponents in the July 18 Democratic primary election debated each other and made McKinney an issue.

On Monday, the 4th District congresswoman did not miss the opportunity to face Hank Johnson - who trailed her by only 2,000 votes in the primary election and forced a runoff -in the first televised debate before the election.

During the half-hour debate, Johnson called McKinney "a desperate candidate seeking to distort truth to gain re-election." McKinney accused Johnson of being beholden to developers and special interests when he was a DeKalb County commissioner, and warned voters he would serve Republican interests if elected to Congress.

"I represent the people," McKinney said when asked about campaign contributions from out-of-state donors. "I don't have Republicans giving me votes, and I don't have Republicans giving me money."

(snip)

Since the primary, McKinney has touted her record of service to her constituents - including her work to provide millions for quality of life initiatives in DeKalb County - as well as her outspokenness on national issues like the war in Iraq and the government's response to Hurricane Katrina.

Johnson, an attorney and former DeKalb County commissioner whose old district was in the heart of McKinney's core constituency, has continued to criticize McKinney as an embarrassment to those she represents in the 4th District. On Monday, McKinney bragged that political Web site Congress.org rated her first among Georgia House Democrats in the sub-category of legislation, though many of her colleagues had no score.

(snip)

"I take my job very seriously and my constituents know that," she said. "He's going to go up to Washington and basically be quiet."

Everyone on FREE REPUBLIC who lives or knows anyone who lives in the 4th District of Georgia should vote for Johnson. Cindy Sheehan is backing McKinney. Her and her father are anti-semites. She is against America and Israel, enough said.

Why? Is she blacker than Hank Johnson?
They are both African American. She can try the race card but it will be a laugh.

Maybe they'll tie in the runoff and will both have to run against the GOP nominee in the November election...

Darn alarm clock - nice dream, though.

For her, connecting Hank Johnson to Republicans IS akin to playing the race card.

"The Jews don't like Farrakhan, so they call me Hitler. Well, that's a good name. Hitler was a very great man. He rose Germany up from the ashes." -- Louis Farrakhan (1984) who campaigned for congresswoman Cynthia McKinney in 2002

"Now that nation called Israel, never has had any peace in forty years and she will never have any peace because there can never be any peace structured on injustice, thievery, lying and deceit and using the name of God to shield your dirty religion under his holy and righteous name." -- Louis Farrakhan who campaigned for congresswoman Cynthia McKinney in 2002, 1984

I laugh at that Buckwheat look-a-like everytime I see her bug eyes and fat arse.
She is an embarrassment to the human race and the people of her District should hang their heads in shame.

That would be, actually, ''hitchoo wit' mah cell phone''.

One of these days, I'm sure we'll have Ebonics spell-checkers. In the meantime, I'll do my humble best.
