Yesterday, Representative John Dingell of Michigan appeared on a Detroit television program along with Republican Candice Miller. They discussed the crisis in Lebanon; Dingell proclaimed himself neutral. "I don't take sides for or against Hezbollah; I don't take sides for or against Israel." Asked, "You're not against Hezbollah?" Dingell answers, "No..."

If the Democrats win control of the House of Representatives, Dingell will be the Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. He was one of the eight Democrats who did not vote in favor of the Congressional resolution supporting Israel in its conflict with Hezbollah.

I have a "liberal" friend who doesn't take sides on this, who thinks Israel is as bad as the terrorists. 'Course he also has a low opinion of the US. He actually does not consider himself to be a leftist, but he sure toes the party line of the Left. Another example of the fact that "liberals" are pretty much without guiding principles.

On July 26, 1994, Eight days after the AMIA bombing, the Israeli Embassy in London was car bombed by two Palestinians. United Kingdom, Israel and Argentina blamed Hezbollah for the attack.[92]

Hezbollah has denounced some acts of terror, such as the September 11 attacks[citation needed], GIA massacres in Algeria, Armed Islamic Group attacks on tourists in Egypt[93], and the murder of Nick Berg. [94] However, it expresses support and sympathy[95] for the activities of Hamas and Islamic Jihad, Islamist groups responsible for suicide attacks and armed resistance in Israel and the Palestinian territories.
