Sarajevo • Bosnian Islamic leaders voiced anger yesterday after a local television station aired an episode of the popular US cartoon South Park depicting Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him).

“The broadcast (of the cartoon) is unacceptable and we condemn it and consider it to be a kind of provocation,” Enes Ljevakovic, head of a Bosnian Islamic council, said.

“According to Islamic tradition, the presentation of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) or any other prophet is unacceptable ... even if their presentation is not sarcastic but in positive light,” Ljevakovic said.

“The cartoon was even censored in the United States ... and that is what the local Bosnian television station should have done as well,” he added.

OBN defended its decision to air the show, saying the cartoon presented prophets in a positive light that could be considered as a lesson in morality.

Some 40 percent of Bosnia’s 3.8 million inhabitants are Muslims. Orthodox Christian Serbs represent about 31 percent, while Roman Catholic Croats account for around 10 per cent.

Well, as long as they don't offend the Scientologists, no problem.

Correction:

Prophet Mohammed (CURSES Be Upon Him).

Sucker is more responsible for terrorism, strife and wars than anyone else in world history today.

Censored here in the US? With everything else that is allowed to be put on the air and passes for 'entertainment', the network wusses won't air this SP episode? What a bunch of wieners.

Go South Park!

I LOVE IT!!!! South Park being used as a lesson in morality. I bet the creaters of the show are pissing their pants laughing.

Hmmmmm if 31 % Orthodox Chrisians and the 10% Roman Catholics join together maybe they still have time to kick the 40% of the moops out of Bosnia????

The Orthodox Christian Serbs account for a bit more than 31% (~35%) and the number of Croats is almost double, i.e. ~17%, not %10. Just my 2c.

Yeah. Right. They claim to revere Issa (Jesus) as a prophet but only get up off their butts for Mohammed. He's their idol. South Park has Jesus as a recurring character but that doesn't bother them enough to object based on their tradition.

Actually, there's no big difference to the christian church...at least Islamism didn't yet destroy the history of a whole continent, like the Spanish Church did in South America. The war count of Christianity and Mohammedanism are probably about equal. I also see radical Islamism as a threat that needs to be dealt with and I acknowledge that Western society learned somewhat quicker and as a result seriously restrained the influence of God's earthly arm in politics, but let's not get too overexcited about how unjust and cruel they have been compared to us.

Guess Bosnian TV isn't quite as sensitive as American TV.
