Races to watch are Republican primary for Governor, Republican primary for Lt. Governor, and Republican primary for the 5th Congressional District
Results are also updating here: http://209.200.89.94/election/
I care!!!!!
And you aren't even from Oklahoma :O
I gues OK-5 GOP primary is the most interesting race.
Most definitely
Thanks for posting it--since I live here, I care. :)
Looks like Istook is getting the nomination for governor; kind of surprised to see Mick Cornett doing so poorly in 5th district, but also kind of glad. I have concerns about his stance on eminant domain. VERY pleased that Cal Hobson isn't even going to get the nomination in the Lt. Governor race, at least, as it looks right now.
Good evening, okstate! I didn't know there were any others like me on the forum, then in two days I find out there are two other Pokes!
I feel like Tigger in the Tigger Movie where he finds out he's not the only Tigger in the world. He's SOOO happy. It feels like that.
First returns from Tulsa had Istook way ahead (1% of the vote, I don't know why they even reported those returns). But looks like Sullivan is pulling up, as I would expect.
We've been kind of baffled about why Jari Askins (the dem) is running at all--from her ads, we gather that she "looks people straight in the eye" (per an elderly relative) and that she "cares." Cal Hobson didn't have much to add (but we know Cal, and know he is NOT suitable for higher office). The Republicans side was more interesting.
Happy to see Cornett and Keating looking like they are losing.
I've never heard of Jari Askins, so I'm sure not going to be any help.
KRMG just interviewed Brad Henry and asked him his greatest accomplishment. He said, 'Oh there are just so many, I wouldn't know where to start.' I thought to myself, yeah I wouldn't know where to start listing your accomplishments either. Let's see, introduced casino gambling, taxes, ....
Brad Henry and great accomplishments just don't go together
(REP) FOR U.S. REPRESENTATIVE, DISTRICT NO. 5 325 OF 340
DENISE BODE 9,050 18.90%
KEVIN CALVEY 4,811 10.05%
JOHNNY B. ROY 1,369 2.86%
MICK CORNETT 11,620 24.27%
MARY FALLIN 16,570 34.61%
FRED MORGAN 4,462 9.32%
And the results have arrived:
GOVERNOR: It's all INCUMBENT DEMOCRAT BRAD HENRY, who swept the primary and will battle (probably victoriously) against corrupted Republican Congressman ERNEST ISTOOK in November.
LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR: It's a wild open seat, with JARI ASKINS and PETE REGAN defeating Cal Hobson and Jim Rogers for a chance at the Democratic nomination while TODD HIETT and SOCTT PRUITT edged Nancy Riley for a chance at the Republican nomination. E.Z. MILLION also gets on the November ballot as an independent. This seat leans strongly Democrat.
ATTORNEY GENERAL: Incumbent Democrat DREW EDMONDSON takes on Republican JAMES DUNN in November.
TREASURER: Republican HOWARD BARNETT defeated Daniel Keating for the chance to (probably lose) challenge incumbent Democrat SCOTT MEACHAM.
BILL CASE won the Republican nomination for Insurance Commissioner, and LLOYD L. FIELDS won the Democrat nomination to defeat Republican Labor Commissioner BRENDA RENEAU.
CONGRESS: Incumbent Republican faces a very strong challenge from SUE BARTON.
DAVID HUNTER defeated Bert Smith for the chance to defeat the Republican nominee, MARY FALLIN or MICK CORNETT, and independent MATTHEW WOODSON.
