Depressing?

Hardly. I am greatful that people are thinking having children. Don't you think that our welfare rolls are high enough. I DON'T believe in abortion, but waiting until your ready is a responsible and intelligent decision. Look, I have three kids and my wife and I began at 29, 31 and 33. I can't begin to tell you how awful a father I would have been if I had began at that age of 19. Also my wife and I waited six years to begin having children. We married at 23 but wanted to ensure that everything was in line. I would not do it any other way. What difference is it if you have children at 30 or 40? I think people are too selfish when younger. BTW we are 37 now and who knows we might still have more kids. With the youngest 4 years old we are feeling that desire for kids again (especially her). My wife and I are thinking that we have at least another good 7 years or so to have more kids...

I don't see what is wrong about waiting to have kids until you can afford them and actually give them a decent life and yet have enough started saving for retirement.

If you have kids immediately after marriage, you WILL screw them with an awful life and any future hopes of retirement.
