Should I have to call all area liquor stores not to sell alcohol to my children too? The hotel has some responsibility to not give minors free access to porn. It should be an option that is specifically opted into by an adult.
Oh I have no idea. I haven't been in a motel/hotel room in ages. Hard to tell how easy it is to get porn today. :)
I guess you really mourn the "loss of liberty" that happened when coin-op cigarette machines went away.
That's a bunch of hooey. They are just trying to justify the smoking ban. By making smokers sound like a miniscule lot, then the general public will say "Oh, well then. It won't matter."
It does if you roll it up and smoke it.
If the Marriott Hotel chain keeps banning everything, they may as well shut their doors. LOL!
I agree with that. I have never gotten porn in a hotel (yes I have seen it before though, who hasn't). I don't think it should be banned. Not everyone in the U.S. is conservative or religious and might not consider porn a sin or a bad thing.
No, it's not assbackwards. It is the responsibility of the parent to take active steps to protect their children. If you have cable TV, you have to take steps to keep the kids out of the porn. If you have internet, you have to take steps to keep the kids out of the porn. Same rule applies here.
When I check in, I have no idea if their system has porn titles in it or not.
You automatically assume that they do and you check for it. Nanny ain't gonna take care of our kids. We have to. I have not checked into a hotel room in the last ten years that did not have porn titles. ...and that's a lot of hotels, I can assure you.
A few years back there was a group that advocated condoms instead of mints be put in motel rooms...............Didn't get far, though. They tasted terrible ad were very chewy.......
The correct policy for hotels should be to block porn to any room that minors are checked in to.
There was a major hotel chain that James DObson told about that no longer has porn on its TVs. ANyone know what chain that was?
And it should be the parent's responsibility not to be leaving their child alone in a hotel room so that they have the opportunity to watch porn. Just as they need to take precautions at home. Most cable companies offer porn with parental lock-out. No different. When you go to a hotel that room is now your 'home' for a given time period. Just because you are on vacation doesn't mean your parental responsibilities end.
Alas, the paper's editorial was praising the Marriot decision on the same page..........
What's next? No more mints on the pillows because of dental problems?......
Don't forget all that alcohol they push on the children in the refrigerator. sarc.
Nope, the hotel is selling porn. It is their responsibility to know they are not selling it to a minor. That is against the law. Hotels know if minors are in the room. Internet sites do not. Internet sites with adult content will provide warnings and ask if you are over 18. Hotels on the otherhand have a lot more information and can easily block access to rooms with minors in it.
Not seen in the Press Release:
Jane LaRue, CWA's Chief Counsel, continued, "To see the depth of the problem, I and my assistant checked into a Marriot and viewed every available porn film on the room's television set. At the end of this viewing, we were so exhausted we had to sleep for 10 hours. This porn in hotel rooms must end!"
[/tongue in cheek]
Huh? You are bordering on utter idiocy. If your reference is to J. Willard Marriot. It has been years since he controlled the corporation. Other than that, I can't possibly fathom what your out of the blue comment is supposed to generate outside of evidence you have an agenda far removed from this thread.
At the prices they charge for a "mini-bar" even the adults are not enticed............
you must be an informed consumer.
