For the first time: Arab nations blame Hezbollah.
- The New York Times reported that key Arab governments have taken the rare step of blaming Hezbollah. Saudi Arabia, with Jordan, Egypt and several Persian Gulf states, chastised Hezbollah for “unexpected, inappropriate and irresponsible acts.”
- IranMania reported that Druze leader Walid Jumblatt charged "The war is no longer Lebanon's ... it is an Iranian war."
G8 Nations back Bush's call for Hezbollah to disarm.
- Eli Lake, The New York Sun reported that leaders of the world's most powerful nations handed President Bush their support for his call for the terrorist group Hezbollah, backed by Iran and Syria, to be disarmed.
Iran warns the West of a "dire fate" for its support of Israel.
- Iran Focus reported that Iran’s hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad warned the West “If you do not contain this criminal regime and end your support for it and give a positive response to the people of the region you will face a dire fate.”
- Yahoo News reported that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declared the Islamic republic's "support" for Syria if it comes under attack.
- Iran Focus reported that the Supreme Commandant of Iran’s IRGC described the United States, Britain, and Israel as an “axis of evil.”
Why the present conflict is leading to a broader war.
- Amir Taheri, Asharq Alawsat argued why the present conflict in the Middle East will almost certainly lead to a broader war.

You just can't figure those friends of the Dubai Ports Deal.
They got shafted by us. Now they're giving the Hellz-b-allah the shaft.
IMHO, it is alot more than just dislike for Hezbollah, etc. I think the Arab (Islamic) world is realizing this is not going to go away and that the tolerance of the world for Islamic terrorism (is there another kind?) is headed toward a fast closure.
THAT is what they are worried about.
Like everyone else, I am encouraged by the news from the other Arab states, but I'm still skeptical that they have any meaningful support for us at all. Look at Iraq. You have a theocracy to the east, a dictatorship to the west, and a monarchy to the south. Can we really believe that any of those regimes would support a democracy? I don't think so. Letting democracy live in the region would spell their death knell and I doubt they want any part of our goals for the region.
The thing driving all of this is the clear fact that Mister D***head over there in Iran has utterly lost it. THAT scares the people running Saudi Arabia and Egype a whole lot more than anything Israel might do and, in fact, fifty years worth of experience teaches those guys that if they don't **** with Israel, Israel will not **** with them. The idea of a guy with the kind of power Mr. D***head weilds completely losing it scares those guys to pieces. Even psychopaths like Clinton and Hitler never totally lost it and, in fact, that's basically why being a psychopath has never been a legal defense for anything in courtrooms. Ahmadjinidad or whatever his name is sees ants crawling over him and elephants and kangaroos and hyenas coming after him when they're not there.
People are sick and tired of the "Religion of Peace'.They are relating it to the "Religion of Pieces"!After condoning the violent acts committed in the disguise of religion,they may have awakened to the fact that it may become a game of who's next.
Sure. They know that self-important kook in Iran sees himself as the future Caliph of the world, just like BinLaden. That both would not hesitate to take over Saudi Arabia along with the rest.
They are scared that their positions of comfort are in real danger. They see what has happened to the Sunnis in Iraq, and they now know, in their hearts, that they may not be able to continue living an unearned life of privilege.
For Middle-Easterners, the height of success is attained by using personal connections to gain a position where you live by directing the labors of others. This is why they have so little economic success (hard work is eschewed, instead of honored), why they tout distant relations ("I'm the 4th cousin twice removed of the Sultan of Somewhere!"), and why up to 40% of the labor force in some ME nations are comprised entirely of non-citizens.
Losing this status in life must be the most terrifying thing they can imagine. They, and their loved ones, are in real danger of having to *gasp!!* work for a living! It is a "humiliation", and many would almost literally prefer death to such an end.
