Election Fraud-Friendly Bill Threatens Pro-Gun House Seats In Congress
-- Bill could lock-in ability of illegal aliens to vote

The House of Representatives is very close to a floor vote on legislation that would further restrict the ability of states to prevent voter fraud.

Vote fraud arguably cost gun owners two pro-gun members of Congress -- Bob Dornan (R-CA) in 1996 and John Thune for US Senate in South Dakota in 2002. Both of those losses would have been impossible were it not for the Motor Voter Law passed during the Clinton presidency.

As John Fund points out in his book Stealing Elections, there is "accumulating evidence that Motor Voter has been registering illegal aliens, since anyone who receives a government benefit may also register to vote with no questions asked."

Moreover, says Fund, an INS investigation in 1996 into alleged Motor Voter fraud in California's 46th congressional district revealed that "4,023 illegal voters possibly cast ballots in the disputed election between Republican Robert Dornan and Democrat Loretta Sanchez." Representative Dornan lost that election by fewer than 1,000 votes.

Under the Motor Voter Law, anyone getting a driver's license or applying for welfare must be given a chance to register to vote. It is illegal to ask for proof of citizenship, which of course, makes it VERY DIFFICULT to keep illegal aliens from voting. Several states, such as South Dakota, allow absentee voting with no identification needed to fill out the absentee ballot. Other states do not require identification to vote.

Now, HR 9, the reauthorization of the Voting Rights Act, would lock in the abuses that are becoming prevalent under the Motor Voter Law. It would do this by prohibiting "any qualification or prerequisite to voting" that could have the effect of keeping just one law-abiding citizen from voting.

What are "qualifications" or "prerequisites to voting"? Well, consider that many states or localities require photo IDs to protect against voter fraud. But supporters of Motor Voter insist that requiring a photo ID to vote or execute an absentee ballot is a design to reduce voting. Similarly, some supporters of Motor Voter do not want dead people's names removed from the voter lists, because doing so might accidentally remove legitimate voters. Both measures -- requiring photo IDs and list clean ups -- are different ways to ensure against illegal vote fraud.

HR 9 would constitute a threat to many pro-gun members of the House especially, but even some Senate seats could be manipulated by locking in voter fraud protections currently in federal law.

ACTION: Please contact your Representative and urge him or her to OPPOSE HR 9, the reauthorization of the Voting Rights Act. You can visit the Gun Owners Legislative Action Center at http://www.gunowners.org/activism.htm to send your Representative a pre-written e-mail message. And, you can call your Representative toll-free at 1-877-762-8762.

-----Pre-written letter-----

Dear Representative:

The integrity of the voting process is under attack, and fraud will be made even easier if HR 9 is passed. HR 9 contains language that would override state laws that are designed to prevent vote fraud -- just because some lawyer might allege that preventing fraud discourages voting. The language in question is in Section 5(1)(b) of HR 9, the bill to renew the Voting Rights Act.

Voting without a picture ID (in person or when filling out an absentee ballot) arguably caused the defeat of pro-gun Representative Bob Dornan and Woody Jenkins for Senate in 1996 and John Thune for US Senate in 2002.

If the Rules Committee permits an amendment to strike this section, please vote for it. If the Rules Committee prohibits an amendment to kill this section, please vote against the bill.

Gun Owners of America will be counting this on their rating of Congress as a gun vote.

Sincerely,

Look South - Americans could learn from Mexican elections.

And it’s not just Mexico. Many countries require some type of voter ID. Examples include Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, the United Kingdom, India, Pakistan and South Africa.

"In 1994 she unsuccessfully ran for the Anaheim City Council under her then married name, Loretta Brixey. At the time, she was a registered Republican. After forays into politics as a liberal Republican, she changed parties, recast herself as a moderate Democrat, and dropped her married name in favor of her maiden name Sanchez. Her first election to the House, in what was then the 46th District in 1996, was bitterly fought. The controversial longtime Republican incumbent, Bob Dornan, was targeted as out of touch with his constituency, especially after a distracting run for the 1996 Republican Presidential nomination."

Voter fraud is a huge problem, and not just for our gun rights. God help our Republic.

Yep it's pretty awful when the Mexican elections have more safeguards than ours . . .

So people who are getting their driver's licenses and registering to vote at the same time (the idea behing Motor Voter) might not have a state issued ID like a driver's license when they vote? My brain just leapt from my head and is hiding under the couch in fear from this wave of anitlogic.

The Republicans are no longer just the stupid party. They are also the suicidal party.

Not everyone has a driver's license, especially in cities with adequate mass transit.

That's just one way.

Voter registration cards can be picked up at any library, fire station, PO, or be downloaded.

The democrats have card tables set up outside markets registering people to vote, all they have to do is fill out the post card and mail it in.

They can always vote absentee for the cost of 2 stamps and at no time are they asked for ID, it's against the law in Calif.

There are many thousands of illegals voting in California.

Just as Busby said: You don't have to be legal to vote.

I think most states have a picture ID available that is not a driver's license. Here in GA the State Assembly passed a law requiring voters to show a picture ID. If the voter doesn't have a driver license the state will provide a free picture ID card to anyone who is a qualified voter.

The Democrats know of course that vote fraud is their only chance take back control of the Assembly and governor's office, so they are fighting the new law tooth and nail. They found a liberal Atlanta area judge who ruled the law unconstitutional, but hopefully the Assembly and Governor's lawyers will be able to have that ruling overturned by a higher court before the next election, which is a primary next Tuesday.
