Iw spent ages explaining to people that USA actualy hade patty or no actual interests in Balkans, and that Iranian nad Turkish interests are sooooo much larger.
Both Iran and Turkey wants their stance in Europe, and that is best to do in Balkans.
German interests too...
Actually nothing realy changed on balkans since 19th century...
USA, Germany and Russia are just guest stars in Christianity/Islam clash.
