I'll let you do that if you want. It may be better to suggest privately, to the Senators, Representatives and networks themselves rather than be public about it. I wouldn't want to start a rift of jealousy doing it.

Good catch. For those intersted the PowerLine post is here and the original is from Ace of Spades.

I would digress a bit and mention that my biggest impression from the immigration debate is that the pro-amnesty crowd is also holding national security hostage (fixing our broken borders) to get their pet legislation passed.

I'm not a one issue type and am not rabid on the immigration debate, but the tactics being employed by the Senate and even the White House are disturbing.  I think the President truly believes he's doing the best thing for the country, even if I disagree with him.  The "we need cheap labor" crowd, however, disgusts me (that includes McCain, for example).

The Democrats (and their toady's in the DBM) tactic on national security issues isn't even simple naked politics.  I could actually forgive them that venal motive.  For folks like John Kerry they actually view us as the enemy and they are working to defeat us.  That's psychotic.  It's also treason.

Well, at least they had some insight about the situation .. 3 years ago! How many media organizations are in denial .. still today? How many will last? How many will fail to interpret the writing on the wall: the people are tired of being *told* what the old biased media thinks is the news. We're all about the back stories and inter-connections now, and the genie IS out of the bottle, never to return.

I'm starting to see a subtle difference at CNN .. Kelly Ann Conway, Pubbie consultant, sits on a panel on a roundtable show. I see NO hope for MSNBC, the NBC org. or ABC, especially with Brian Ross still pushing his shopping cart through the "irregulars" and "seconds" news merchandise aisles.

FOX IS STILL KING!

This may have been posted...I haven't had a chance to read all of the posts on this thread yet.

All last week, the dems were a laughing stock, because of their foolishness on TV talk shows, (murtha)...and because of the ill-advised amendments that they debated for DAYS...

Also...their opinions on N. Korea were wacky---so,

How about the NYTimes, LATimes (best friends of dems)...thinking WELL, we have been told to keep this secret, but if we announce this...it will take all of the heat off of the dems...and their idiocy.

Also, finding that terrorist cell in Florida played into the Bush Administration's hand of NEEDING these intelligence programs..

So...they expose it...to cover up for dems...and put critisizm on the REps?

I heard on Fox News yesterday...that the Senate Judiciary Committee had already scheduled a hearing into the SWIFT program for its "legality"...

So..if Arlen is demurring about having hearings, he is lying, or Fox News made it up.

Kind of intresting too how MTP never has any Moderate or Conservative Dems on. It Leftist or extrem Leftist all the time these days. 1st Murth, now Finegold, what next Castro?

Actually they did that several years ago (Sept. 30, 1960).  From their web site:

Foreign policy has always been a staple of "Meet the Press" interviews. Some of the world leaders interviewed on “Meet the Press” include Fidel Castro...

After watching this morning on FNS, I sent him an email pleading with him to step down from his chairmanship of that committee. That he defended the NYTimes releasing this highly classified information, and not giving the benefit of the doubt to the administration anti-terrorism activities, it has become clear that Arlen is not the proper person to head the judiciary committee.

I think I know why Wolf Blitzer didn't ask the Oil Minister from Iraq about the oil production.

They just had a blurb on Fox News that oil production in Iraq is at the rate it was under Saddam...LOL

CNN would NOT want that news to get out..

After the Declaration of Independence was signed, Virginia statesman John Page wrote to Thomas Jefferson: ``We know the race is not to the swift nor the battle to the strong. Do you not think an angel rides in the whirlwind and directs this storm?''

Much time has passed since Jefferson arrived for his inauguration. The years and changes accumulate. But the themes of this day he would know: our nation's grand story of courage and its simple dream of dignity.

We are not this story's author, who fills time and eternity with his purpose. Yet his purpose is achieved in our duty, and our duty is fulfilled in service to one another.

Never tiring, never yielding, never finishing, we renew that purpose today, to make our country more just and generous, to affirm the dignity of our lives and every life.

This work continues. This story goes on. And an angel still rides in the whirlwind and directs this storm.

From George W. Bush's first inaugural address. January 20, 2001

Colmes needs to see this. He was such dumbbum this past week.

Colmes has always had his head so far up his backside, he would say those warheads were different. One question for him should be:

If mustard gas and other chemical weapons go bad, why do we incinerate the contents during disposal?

Well there goes yet another Dem talking point argument

BTW .. speaking of Dems .. I'm reading Ann Coutler's new book ..

I wasn't going to buy it for other reasons ... but I wanted to see what all the hoopla from the Dems was about

Well .. as Rush always says .. the Dems over reached

Though that one line from Ann was overboard and crossed the line .. it's the rest of the Book that should have the Dems worried

She nailed them

Thanks, I'll rent it ASAP. I have really enjoyed every movie featuring Duval. I'm sure I'll enjoy "Tender Mercies."

Excellent post, AB! Warner, though not an effective spokesman IMHO, did try to push the distinction between combatants and war criminals.  It's clear that this is a big dim strategy for getting back the "patriotism" issue from the Republicans.  Harold Ford Jr. is already running ads on TV here this morning with this as the theme in his Senate bid.  He dropped several notches in my estimation for trying this tactic.  Makes me think he's both desperate and totally in the control of the MoveOn.ORG wing of the party now.

On a practical level I've always been really bothered by things like putting "evil dictators" on trial. For example, take the case of Chile's General Pinochet. I don't have sympathy for him because I just don't know enough to make a definitive judgment, but I've always felt that you have to offer even the worst enemies a way out where they survive unless your willing to destroy everyone and everything. If not what's their incentive not to fight on to the last meaningless death... on both sides? Pinochet stepped down because he was guaranteed that he wouldn't be prosecuted.  Now the leftists have gone back on their word and renounced that law (surprise, surprise). When the next "president for life" somewhere is confronted with a choice like that they'll think about him and decide they might as well go down killing their enemies. They have nothing to lose.

Oh, and good morning. Off to pray in front of St. Patty's after mass... you know there is that wonderful gay pride parade today. We have to make sure the Eucharist isn't thrown to the floor and stomped on again this year.

Now if it was a Christian group taking the Koran from a mosque and stomping on it...
(Consequences too painful to contemplate...)
